'''Spalding Racing''' was an FL team which replaced the Rennian-Government owned-and-operated [[EotLP FL Racing]] team from [[Formula Lego: Season 14|Season 14]] onwards, as part of the Rennian Government's attempt to distance themselves from the sport in an official, controlling, capacity. Although much of the Team DNA remained the same through the transition, Spalding was directly owned by [[Jenny Spalding]], rather than the Emperor of the EotLP, ran self-funded with Sponsorships, and had no official recruitment policy from the Rennian Military, unlike its predecessor. The Rennian Government did allow for all Government personnel working at National to transfer out of Government Service immediately, and offered bonuses for those who chose to stay at Spalding.

Spalding continued to purchase their Engines from the Rennian Government until the onset of the Third Balkavanian War. After the war, when Formula Lego restarted races and competition, the National Racing Engine Division the same offer that their employees had received earlier, and Spalding moved their engine production in-house as well.

National's Technical Chief, [[Griffin King]], who had led their technical department since [[Formula Lego: Season 04|Season 4]], had announced his resignation partway through [[Formula Lego: Season 13|Season 13]], moving to [[Angel FL|Angel]] for Season 14 onwards. To replace him, his deputy Technical Officer, [[Andrei Gardner]], was promoted to fill the role. The expectations for the transition year had been set out the year before, when National struggled greatly, and fell far short of their normal pace and strength. They aimed to be a forerunner in the Midfield, but had no expectation of Race Wins, or even Podiums.
