The 253 Safety Regulations were a compilation of Sporting and Technical changes, aimed to prevent further tragedies from occurring on the track, after the shocking, and terrifying death of Kira Sanchez during Season 9.

Sporting Regulation Changes

The first rule change regarded barriers, their construction, and their location. The initial change was to make Barriers out of a stronger, yet more spongy substance, but also to add tire barriers in runoff sections, where the most dangerous crashes happened. The second change was to make barriers bordering any body of water a minimum distance of 15 feet from the water line, as well as changing their required height, and construction materiel, to a more rigid form of concrete that would better prevent an FL car from going through. In addition to that ruleset, the final water-related change was to remove the requirement for an oxygen tank and breathing mask in all vehicles. These regulations were to try and prevent a repeat of Denise Perez' fatal Season 6 crash.

Medical personnel were now required to have better access to all parts of the track, and new rules about access roads were created to avoid a medical team having to deploy onto the track and drive the correct way around the track, which lost huge amounts of valuable

Technical Regulation Changes

The biggest technical change was the introduction of the HALO System, which was a set of bars above the driver's head that would protect them in the case of a flip, roll, or even collision at head-level. To accommodate the weight of the HALO as well as the weight of its required mounting and structural points, the required car length was increased for Season 10 and beyond.

Tire changes were announced as well, with one Tire provider to be used for Season 10 and onwards. With three tire manufacturers on the grid, Maralla, Duet Tires, and Hittul, The EotLP GP Commission had a daunting task ahead of it to choose just one. However, after a careful safety and performance investigation, they found that Maralla's tires consistently outperformed the other two on both reliability, linear degradation, fringe scenarios, and outright performance. To that point, the EotLP GP Commissioners chose to make the exclusive tire supplier for Season 10 onwards Maralla, with their Standard Tireset.
