Lilian Energies Inc

From Wiki Balkavani

Lilian Energies Incorporated was a rebranding of the Octan Energy Company, after the Second Balkavanian War.

History and Rebranding

During the Nakorentan Standoff, as the EotLP and it's Allies progressively separated and prepared for a seemingly inevitable war against the Nakorentan Union, the owner and Chairman of Octan Energies - Kai Octan - saw an opportunity to profit massively. Octan had a history as a fundamental part of the initial industrial Boost that propelled the EotLP into it's first strength, that allowed the nation to stand on it's own against the overbearing EotBTH and its nearby allies, including being vital to the creation of the EotLP Air Force and Navy, being largely responsible for the R-100 & R-200 programs, as well as the OLAC. Despite this history, Kai Octan began to capitalise on intense rivalries between the Nakorentan Union and the Balkavanian Sovereignty Legion and managed to score lucrative contracts for Oil Drilling as well as Military Production with both sides by starting a Bidding war between the two sides. However, this went over very poorly in the Legion Countries, especially in Octan's home nation of the EotLP. In 256, a media campaign - funded largely by the EotLP Government - at that point largely controlled by General Tiberius Rex, publicly took aim at Kai Octan and his family, regarded as Oligarchs, and in contrast to the Osborne Family, not invested in the greater of the success of the EotLP. Michael Osborne shared the opinion of Rex, and his friendship with Octan had fallen off in recent years. The public latched onto the media campaign, and began to call for Octan to step away from leading the company, and for much of the company to restructure their operations to support the EotLP Better. Octan agreed to step down from his position as Chairman of the Board of the company in early 257, and was bought out of his control of the Board Members by Octan. As the Third Balkavanian war began in 258, Octan officials, led by Kai Octan's hand-picked successor, Eric di Salonari began to discuss restructuring the company, and renaming to remove the negative, anti-Legion rhetoric associating the Octan Family. Kai Octan strongly opposed this idea, but no longer holding an official position within the company, was largely ignored. Out of respect to their founder, the Board chose their new name to be Lilian - the given name of Kai Octan's estranged only daughter, at that point serving in the Rennian Military as a senior communications Officer, having changed her name (from Lilian Aniese Octan to Lilian Cahyrst Aniese). The rebrand was made official in 260, during the height of the War, so that after the conclusion of the war, when Lilian Energies emerged, they would have distanced themselves from the disgraced image that Kai Octan had given them. Lilian did not leave Military Service until her Father died, a full 5 years after the conclusion of the war. She rejected an offer from di Salonari of a position as Lilian's communications director, instead choosing to live a modest life, completely outside the public eye, as the Director of Advertising and Communications at a chain of 6 restaurants across the EotLP. She slowly donated most of the fortune she inherited from her father's death to pro-democracy, anti-oligarch, and anti-monopoly advocacy groups. She privately expressed disgust at the rebranding of Octan taking her name, and considered it a sign that her father never truly left the company behind.

Subsidiaries / Structure

Lancer Technologies

Lancer Technologies was one of Octan's most valuable investments, being just a small-scale productions systems company at the birth of the EotLP. They were responsible for the development of the Lancer External Grapple Over System (LEGOS), which they released to the public, potentially losing out on a fortune of licensing fees for the incredibly efficient production system. After the fall of the NRR, Lancer purchased an ailing Aircraft Repair Company - Sentry Aircraft Systems - who had been the primary service Providers for the NRR's ailing and ageing Air Force. As the NRR fell apart, maintenance on their already highly ineffective air force had been neglected entirely, and SAS was on the brink of Bankruptcy, much like nearly every other NRR Business or Government Branch. Lancer had initially intended to just hold SAS until the Iseli Region stabilised and Aircraft Maintenance once again became a government priority. SAS-Lancer Leadership realised that the EotLP, who now had territory to govern stretching over a vast region (just as the NRR had before it), but without any of the benefits that the NRR had at its peak, was in desperate need of a Military restructure. EotLP Leadership had realised this at the same time, and had begun to develop a multi-year plan to invest heavily into significantly improving their military equipment and infrastructure. SAS-Lancer (who by now, no longer intending to sell off SAS, had renamed back to just "Lancer") beat the EotLP to the punch, and had begun development on a Jet Fighter. They were critically lacking in funding though, as most companies in the EotLP and former-NRR Countries were. So, when approached by Octan Representatives, they agreed to sell a majority stake of Lancer's Board Seats to Octan in exchange for significant funding for their Jet Fighter Program. After the deal was signed and inked, the EotLP Government's plans to drastically expand Military Spending became public, and Lancer (championed by Kai Octan directly to Emperor Ren) was immediately among the first to receive large amounts of funding for their Jet Fighter - now code named Project Dragon. Thanks to the LEGOS, the first R-100 Dragon rolled off the production line by halfway through 233, followed by 150 full-production Dragons before the end of 233. As a gesture of appreciation for their commitment to the EotLP (starting development of the R-100 before government funding was an option), Lancer was also given an exclusive contract to maintain all active and future R-100s, the new Air Force Workhorse. In 233 they also began an equally-quick development program, code named Project Thunderbird, which resulted in the R-200 Thunderbird, the EotLP's first Stealth Bomber. 16 R-200s were produced. Lancer became one of Octan (Later Lilian)'s greatest assets in terms of both revenue as well as Military Connections to the EotLP, and after the Smelly Cabbage Incident, was fully folded into the Octan Parent Company, although it kept its own Lancer Branding.

Lilian Nautical Systems

Kai Octan, seeing the amount of Money being poured into the Rennian Military during the First Rebuilding Period, made the same decision that many companies in the EotLP made, and expanded further into the Military Industrial Complex, founding a new subsidiary of Octan called Octan Nautical Systems, which developed the Octan Light Attack Cruiser (OLAC), a fundamental part of the EotLP's Navy.

Lilian Formula Lego Team

The Octan FL Team (Later rebranded alongside the parent company) was founded in 243, as a part of a competition between Kai Octan and his longtime friend, Michael Osborne, as to who could build the better Racing Car. It was the first majorly successful FL Team, winning the Constructors' Title in the Sport's First 3 Seasons. They also won two Drivers' Titles in the same time frame. They saw a later resurgence in the 252 Season (Season 9), finishing a close 2nd in both titles. They considered to remain a strong second-best team through to Season 12, in 255, including one more Drivers' Title in Season 10 (253).
