Kyle Giovinazzi
Kyle Smith Giovinazzi is a former Formula Lego driver, who managed to find a seat with Osborne, Octan, and National, despite never showing incredible results.
He raced with Osborne under the number 2-2, with National under the number 2-17 and 2-32, and with Octan under the number 2-16
Early Life & Entry to Formula Lego
Kyle Giovinazzi was born in the New Roman Republic in 214. He grew up in a racing family - both his parents raced locally as a hobby. After the Smelly Cabbage incident, he found moderate success in the new EotLP, where he owned small bakery. He began Stock racing on the side, much as his late parents had, where he found moderate success, and met a young man named Josep Vikalkin. Vikalkin, on hearing rumours about the creation of Formula Lego, went to Michael Osborne (the owner of Osborne GC FL), and convinced him to hire racers that already had experience in slower racing leagues. As a very successful stock car and rally driver, Vikalkin was immediately hired, and Giovinazzi was the second driver hired, after his track record was brought to Osborne.
Osborne Years (Season 1 - 2)
Kyle didn't manage to score in the positives in his first season at Osborne. His highest scores of the season came at races 4 & 6, when he came 16th, just barely missing out on the points. Despite finishing 7th overall within Osborne, he had petitioned for a two-year contract, along with George Sainz, leaving the only three that Michael Osborne both wanted to cut, and legally could, from the team being Charles Bottas, Heather Verstappen, and Stephanie Hamilton.
Kyle's form improved greatly in season two, as he finished in the top half of the racers, and in the top half of Osborne as well. He only managed to race in four races, after he collided with Pierre Zendeli in Race 2, and injured his left shoulder. He returned to the race track for Race 4, where he finished 7th for the second of three times that season. At the end of his own shortened season, he finished in 12th overall, and 5th within Osborne. He decided to apply to move to National for the next season, in hopes that they might have a better car the next season. Jenny Spalding found his outright pace to be extremely good, and taking into account his 12th overall finish, despite missing 1/3 of the season, it didn't take long for her to replace the outgoing Nicholas Ticktum with Kyle.
National (Season 3)
Kyle's first tenure at National saw him perform much more akin to his first season at Osborne than his second, as he managed a highest finish of P10. He finished P17 overall, and P6 within National, therefore did not get his contract renewed by National for Season 4.
Octan Years (Season 4 - 5)
Kyle was picked up by Octan on their standard two-year contract by once again intriguing the Octan officials with his inexplicably good Season 2.
His Season 5 was Kyle's worst yet, finishing between P19 and P22 at every race, and coming P24 overall, and P8 within Octan
However, he managed to outdo himself in Season 6, finishing lower than P23 at every race, without DNFing even once, leading to him finishing the season dead last overall and in Octan.
Unsurprisingly, his contract with Octan was not renewed.
Return to National (Season 6 - 8)
After finishing P3 in the National Driver Test Races, Kyle was picked back up by National for the second time. However, this time his tenure was more than a single season, as he managed two different points showings in Season 6, at Races 4 & 6, and finished P20 overall, with 25 points. Being P5 within the team, Kyle found himself with a contract for Season 7 as well
Season 7 also saw him have multiple points showings, in Races 1 and 2, and he finished the season P15 overall, with 15 points. However, he was once again P5 within National, and lived to race another day.
Season 8 saw whatever form he had managed to develop the previous two seasons vanish, as he finished P20 or lower at every race, without a single DNF, and finished P26 overall, and P8 within National.
Finally, 6 years after his surprisingly good season at Osborne, Kyle couldn't find anyone to hire him based of the promise that it could happen again, and was left without a drive for Season 9, and never raced Formula Lego again.
