Rennia Street Circuit
A Bird's Eye View of the Kira Sanchez Memorial Rennia Street Circuit, in the EotLP.

The Kira Sanchez Memorial Rennia Street Circuit (Formerly the Emperor Sergio Ren Memorial Rennia Street Circuit), is a Street Circuit in the Downtown Core of the Legoian Capital of Rennia. It's first feature race became the first time that Formula Lego had raced somewhere other than Cagne Island. It was first raced on in Season 9, as the final race. It unexpectedly became the most emotional race to date, as Kira Sanchez had died in the previous race. It was featured again the next season in the second race. Due to it's close proximity to the EotLP's borders, it was the first track to consistently attract international attendees.

For the Final race of Season 9, Formula Lego broke tradition and diversified their venue. The EotLP Race Engineers and Publicity Designers had been looking into diversifying the tracks in order to make the racing more interesting, and bring the sport to more live audiences. The project was kept under wraps under the publicity branch of the Formula Lego Umbrella Organisation. It was made up of a group of just 10 engineers and researchers, looking for places to build a new track. They eventually settled on a street circuit in Rennia.

Before the beginning of Season 9, it was announced that, for the first time, a new race would be added to the calendar. Between the practice sessions for Race 6, it was announced that it wouldn’t take place at Cagne Island, as every previous race had, but would instead take place on a new street circuit in Rennia. It was named the Emperor Sergio Ren Memorial Rennia Street Circuit (But even then, it was colloquially called the Rennia Street Circuit). However in a tragic overlap, this news was quickly forced to share a tragic stage. During Race 6, Kira Sanchez, the greatest racer of all time, was involved in a 7-car crash of many of the front racers. She succumbed to her injuries about a day after the incident. After her sudden death, Season 9 Race 7 was immediately postponed, and renamed the Kira Sanchez Memorial Race. It was a solemn event, and a petition circulated the nation very soon after to rename the circuit after the late Kira Sanchez. It was passed by several levels of government, and Emperor James Krennic approved it, as well. So, after just one race bearing Emperor Sergio Ren's name, it became the Kira Sanchez Memorial Rennia Street Circuit.

With a Lap-length of 9.66 km, a typical race in Rennia consisted of 52 laps.

History

Between the Season 10 Rennia Race, and the repeat event in Season 11, the back Straight (Corners 11 - 12) was resurfaced, to provide a more aesthetically pleasing road in front of the Imperial Palace. However, an oversight in the construction process led to the new material being incredibly abrasive, causing FL Tires to degrade at a rate of more than twice as fast as other venues. This resulted in mass chaos during the Rennia Race in Season 11, where Quantos' Zarya Ilic won a hectic and unpredictable race. Although talks were held over whether to replace this surface with a more homogenised track surface, the EotLP GP Commission (The Predecessor to the WFLC) and Formula Lego came to the conclusion that leaving the track with a unique surface would provide more interesting racing. In order to guarantee Driver Safety, extensive testing was done by Maralla and on the track to produce better and safer tire degradation profiles, to prevent teams from over-using their tires and causing dangerous tire failures. They also repaved the entrance to Corner 11, and Exit to Corner 12, to match the high-deg portion between them, to allow for a less sudden change in grip levels for drivers.
