He had intended to fly into Nova Italia, to try and find work, which was in shortage in his native Omhoincan, but boarded at gate G12 rather than G21, and ended up in the Campestrem Regionem. It turned out to be the best decision of his life. He began working as a hairdresser in the Regionem, to try and save enough money to move to Nova Italia. But the plateau grew on him, and he eventually decided to stay. He found the authorities quite friendly towards him, as he was a foreign national, working towards NRR citizenship, but noticed that his experience wasn’t universal. The discrimination, violence, and oppression he saw the military carrying out against the Irin horrified him. At first, he began writing to both the Senate and his regional Governor, but the government-sanctioned oppression was not curbed at all. After that, he moved up a step, gathering petitions with thousands of signatures, including very famous Irinians. Once again, though, the requests to end the oppression were not heard. However, many of the high-profile people who signed the petitions suffered from a sudden onset of “accidents” involving the local government. Even Ren himself was nearly run over by a Military Jeep in secluded parts of town on three different occasions. Finally, he realized that his petitions would be fruitless, and began organizing an underground resistance to the NRR “occupation” as he labelled it. Perhaps this way, he would force the hand of the NRR in the direction he wanted it to go. NRR soldiers walking alone found themselves attacked by people they never even saw, and high-profile government officials often were called home to find that their valuables were gone, and their houses burned. But even though people wanted to follow Ren’s lead, and even though people were following, Ren realised that he couldn’t start a revolution quite yet, as no purchase of weapons would go unnoticed by the NRR. Instead, he began to make it a troublesome region, so that if he couldn’t openly rebel, they would make the Campestrem Regionem a headache for the Roman Oppressors. He began attacking larger groups of Military Personnel, everywhere they went, starting around mid-221. Several times Military Transport Jets and Fighters were sabotaged, and truckloads of soldiers were attacked in places that they were forced to move slowly. A further total of 14 Fuel Trucks were also destroyed with homemade Molotov Cocktails during this period, as well.

Davis]] (Who later was revealed to be secret funder of the first rebellion). He used his high placement within the government to try and remove the popular, qualified, and skilled consul Lucius Rufus Brutus from his position, with the goal of promoting himself to that position. However, legendary businessman, inventor, and Senator Michael Osborne discovered his plot, and had him arrested for High Treason. He was executed on the 3rd of 227. However, he had his revenge, and had his goons publicise a secret transaction that the NRR had made years before, where they secretly counterfeited nearly $ 1 trillion MON. In an attempt to appease the other nations running on the $ MON the NRR government agreed to publicly destroy an equivalent amount of cash. In doing so, and the economic fallout from the emptying of the treasury, the NRR government lost more than 95% of the NRR Treasury, which left the Senate with only $9,973,000,000 MON to run the country and army, which normally ran on an annual budget of $10,000,000,000,000. To compound their problems, the NRR-Ottenburgian Army (a supposedly joint project with their neighbour nation, the Ottenburg Empire) had been decimated after an Ottenburgian invasion of the BBR. Despite being a “joint & equal project,” The NRR had to finance the majority of the Army’s costs to keep it upkept, so this was another striking blow to the NRR. In these economic & military disasters, Sergio Ren saw a second chance. A year after his first rebellion was destroyed, he had secretly re-entered the Campestrem Regionem, and begun to secretly recruit more people to his cause. Then he left to Nova Terra (another Territory of the NRR, where the citizens were also oppressed due to their previous rebellions), where he also recruited rebels. After a year of underground recruiting, Ren’s rosters contained the names of 4,987 people who would fight for him if it came to it. He was confident that, if he could get supplies, he would stand a better chance than in his last rebellion on pure numbers. Combined with the NRR’s Economic troubles, he believed that his second attempt would surely be more successful than in the previous round. So, in a surprise move one night, Ren’s best operatives blew a hole in the wall of the central Military Weapons Depot of the Campestrem Regionem; where the Romans had stored all the weapons they had captured during the first rebellion, and had begun to stockpile more. Almost all of them were transported back to Ren’s New Headquarters. He had supplies. In his final move of preparation, he re-recruited as many of the rebels from his first rebellion as he could. Of the 337 who had been captured but not executed, 197 had been released. All but eighteen joined Ren. Of the 397 who managed to avoid capture by the Romans, and still survived, all joined the second rebellion’s ranks. With 5,563 men and women behind him, ready to fight to the death for their independence, Ren just had to decide how he was going to do so. This time around, Ren planned his tactics extremely differently than the previous round against the Romans. Where he had stuck exclusively to guerrilla warfare and small, surprise attacks last time, this time he would pick and choose what battles to fight.

With the Roman-Ottenburgian Army gone, they sent one their top Generals – James Krennic - to deal with the situation, along with the 12th Lego Legion, as well as the majorly undersized 17th Lego Legion (which had lost a large portion of its numbers in the Ottenburgian Invasion of the BRR). The Senate didn’t have the cash to fund a war, so they gave him an up-front float of resources and cash, and gave him total control of the resources of the Campestrem Regionem, where 1.4 million people lived. Krennic was an amazing tactician and leader, so his small force was not much of a handicap to his effectiveness. He quietly brokered a deal with the Latian Republic to allow his troops sail down the River Lisenne in exchange for a large sum of his cash float. Through camouflage and deceptive painting, he managed to disguise the nature of the boats that he sailed through down the Lisenne. The Rebels never suspected a thing, either, as they didn’t believe that the Latians would ever allow NRR Troops through their land. Krennic’s Ships landed all up the Lisenne, right near the three major crossing points of the wide, deep, fast river. On Krennic’s Command, Roman Soldiers rushed out of the “River Cruise” Ships, taking the Rennians completely by surprise. The Second Battle of Legoia took place lightning quick. Ren realised what had happened, and ordered his troops to evacuate the city. He lost many men during their flight. They chose to cross the river at the North Legoian Bridge, to try and re-unite with the 1st and 2nd. He also radioed the 3rd and 4th divisions, ordering them to make their way across the river, to mount an organized response to the Romans. However, just as his troops began crossing the North Legoia Bridge, Krennic detonated it, sending Rebels plunging to their death, and trapping the rest of the 5th on the wrong side of the river. What remained of the 5th turned on end, and outpaced the Romans to make it to Brutuville, where they re-united with the 3rd. The 5th had lost nearly a hundred men and women in the surprise attack, which was devastating. The 4th had left the Balki Capital of Inare for the Southern Bridge, but it had already been destroyed by the time they reached it. They returned to Inare for the time being, although they planned to rejoin the 3rd and 5th in Brutuville before too long. Krennic amassed all his forces in Legoia, and freed the POWs held there, growing his force to nearly 7,500 soldiers. Ren’s Western Forces remained separated from each other as well, holing up in Spar and Reiths, respectively.

Ren and the other members of the IFC agreed to this, and signed the Constitution Draft the next day, the 28th of Dolo, 228, dissolving the short-lived INC, and retroactively creating the Empire of the Lego Plains (effective from the 38th of Actaber, 227), with Sergio Ren it's first Emperor.

Emperor Ren & Krennic heard of the disagreements, and ordered their soldiers to stand down from confrontation. They met with the Nova Terran Leader, Octavia Silenus, for several hours, and hashed out a plan for the future of Nova Terra. Finally, the three leaders emerged to a sea of eagerly listening soldiers from both sides. Their statement, later named the “Sinitola Address,” ran “In the interests of the Rennian and Nova Terran Peoples, the Free State of Sinitola (formerly the New Roman Colony of Nova Terra) shall enter into autonomous union with the Empire of the Lego Plains. The government of Sinitola shall remain autonomous in all locally concerned affairs, such as but not limited to, education, infrastructure, healthcare, and Civil Court. The Government of the EotLP shall maintain some responsibilities, such as but not limited to Criminal Courts, Military Oversight, Trade, Taxation, and National Defense. Octavia Silenus shall from this point become the Empress of the Sinitola Free State, in separate role from Sergio Ren, the Emperor of the Empire of the Lego Plains and the Sinitola Free State.” Nova Terra, or Sinitola, as it was now known, was secured. Within a week, the Ottenburg opened their western border to the eastern border of Nova Terra, and trade began. The EotLP’s economy was saved. James Krennic, who had truly proved his loyalty to the EotLP during the Nova Terra Campaign, was promoted to the General of the Armies of the EotLP, the head of the entire EotLP Army. Some of Ren’s original supporters were uncomfortable with this new arrangement, as Krennic had waged war against them during the Second Rebellion, but even they could not argue that he had proved his loyalty during the Invasion of Nova Terra.

Groups within and without the military were angry that the EotLP had made no move to try and stop Smelly Cabbage from uprooting them, despite the fact that there had been nothing for them to do. However, angry people struggling for jobs rarely listen to such logic. They organized, and planned, and on the 10th of 237, organized rebels from among Ren’s army tried to kill Emperor Ren and his closest advisors, by attacking Him during a speech in the new capital of Rennia with rebel ground forces, and then hijacking his transport-the Octan-Lancer 7-seat Passenger Ultrajet, the Crown Jewell-which he fled onto. Luckily for Emperor Ren and the Empire, Air Force Captain Poe Dartmoor shot the hijacker, and flew the Crown Jewell away from the situation, and Zin Evanki (of later fame) followed, supporting them from his R-100. They were then attacked by three fighters stolen by the rebels, two R-100s and an O5 Firebird. During the ensuing dogfight, Dartmoor successfully used the Crown Jewell’s defense systems to down one of the R-100s, while Private Evanki destroyed the other fighters. The Crown Jewell was badly injured during the confrontation, though, as the pilot of the Firebird had attempted to ram Emperor Ren’s plane, and had scraped off a large chunk of the roof of the Plane. Unfortunately, in the planning stage of the counterstrike, they had vastly underestimated the size of the Rebel Forces, and every member of both Krennic & Ren’s detachments were captured. However, Rex came to the rescue, as he personally led a charge which broke the Rebel column, and freed the Emperor and & General of the Rennian Armed Forces. Once reunited, the three detachments together attacked the Rebels. They put up fierce resistance, though, until a Rennian Sniper who had evaded being captured by the Rebels for several days dropped the Rebel leader, known only as Punkor. Within another 15 minutes, the rest of the rebels caved. Without the head, the snake lost its brain. The entire ordeal took less than a work week, but it exposed the angry nature of the Rennian People, after the Smelly Cabbage incident. Lancer & Osborne replaced the downed aircraft, and they had begun reconstruction of new Aircraft as well. 150 R-100s, 50 O5s, 50 R-200s, and 150 OA1s had been produced before the Smelly Cabbage Incident. Each of the EotLP’s Aircraft Carriers was equipped to house 150 R-100s, 50 O5s and a motley assortment of other aircraft, and they had three. And, furthermore, Air Force Bases had been established all around the nation, as well. Emperor Ren wanted all of the Aircraft Carriers to be combat ready, and supply the rest of the Air Force Bases. 1000 R-100s, 500 O5s, 75 R-200s, and 400 OA1s would be required. Osborne & Lancer didn’t have trouble filling these orders, though.

Internal struggles were not over after the first coup, though. Although the economy steadily grew, and people’s lives began to form a new normal, there were still many who were angry at the move. Smelly Cabbage had reportedly done nothing with the empty territory, and many took this as proof that Emperor Ren had acted irrationally and unjustifiably. In 238, Emperor Ren made another decision that enraged these people; he offered the new EotLP as a refuge to anyone else displaced by the Smelly Cabbage Incident. The EotLP’s population jumped from around 3 million to close to 5 million within the year. The kinds of people who would have preferred to stay in the old EotLP because “it is our home still, no matter what the false Emperor may say” (exert from an anti-Ren propaganda poster). It all came to a boiling point at the very beginning of 239, when Emperor Ren announced that they would (finally) begin forming diplomatic relations with the Nations that they had overrun in order to carve out their new territory. Despite the fact that the dissenters claimed to hate the idea of the Balkavanian EotLP, they were also now mad that Ren had not conquered more of the Balkavanians during the Smelly Cabbage Incident. They organized all of their followers, many of whom were in the military, and launched an attack on Emperor Sergio Ren. On the 20th of 239, Ren was doing a routine troop inspection in the Capital, Rennia, when a group of his troops turned and fired on him. He was struck by several bullets before Krennic, and the now-Colonel Tiberius Rex managed to get him to safety. Rebels began flooding in the gates of the Military Complex, and Loyal Soldiers had no way to know who was on their side or not. They cleaned up the last few straggling Rebels, who had been outnumbered from the start, and the entire event finished within an hour and a half. Once the grounds were deemed safe, the emergency doctors began to move the injured Ren out of the building they had been sheltered in, to try and get him to the hospital for emergency procedures. He was loaded onto a gurney, and wheeled outside. Outside, though, there was a single Rebel Soldier, who had traded his marked helmet with an unmarked one off of a dead loyalist. As Ren was wheeled past him, he drew his handgun, and began to empty its clip into Ren’s body. General Krennic tackled him immediately, receiving several bullet wounds as well, before a group of three commandoes violently subdued him. Ren survived the second attack as well, after undergoing intensive surgery, and Michael Osborne implanting several pieces of tech into his body to keep him alive. He never made a full physical recovery, but was conscious again after 4 days, and was released from the hospital after 12 further days. Krennic was less seriously injured, and recovered after just under a week in hospital. Irinian Background
Sheltered on a huge plateau, the Irin people lived for thousands of years in a very isolated way, largely unknown to the rest of the world. Not much is known about this time, as the Irin never developed their own written language. Despite much of their history not making it, many legends were passed down through stories, told by countless generations. Stories of a peaceful land, where people lived idyllic lives. However, that wouldn’t always be the case. When the first expedition of the Legoian Empire crossed up onto the plateau in the year -4 MT, the lives of everyone living there would change forever. The Irin found themselves oppressed by the Legoian Army, as their land was exploited for every resource and treasure it contained. In the year 17, just 21 years after the Irin were first invaded, the Legoian Empire began to fall apart. As generals and other officers began claiming various regions of the empire, Irin somehow became a focal point of the conflict. Within the next 6 years, 61 battles, among 7 different generals all vying for control over what used to be the Legoian Empire. After a final, decisive victory, God-emperor general William of Catlish took control over the Irin in 23 MT.
Catlish Dynastic Rule
William I of Catlish took control of the Irinian Plateau in 23 and named himself the Legoian God-Emperor, officially founding the Catlish God-Emperor Religion. However, other Generals of the former Legoian Empire took control of enough former parts of the Empire that his claims are widely disregarded. He renamed his kingdom Irin, as the majority of his holdings were on the plateau and set about strengthening his rule. He ruled for 14 years, before passing away at the age of 41 (which was normal for the time) in 37.
The throne passed to his first-born son, William II, who took it upon himself to retake all of the land over which the Legoian Empire used to maintain control. This began the 57 years war (40-102 MT), and eventually to his own death, after being struck by a stray arrow aimed at a hawk in 49 MT.
James I, the son of William II, was a mere 3 years old when his father died, but none-the-less was named Emperor. His uncle Gary was named as regent, and the young James died later the same year in mysterious circumstances often pinned on Gary.
Despite being the third-born of William I's sons, Gary I took control after his nephew's death, as he became the first in line when the second-born (James) died in 39 MT. Gary ruled from 49 MT until 53 MT, when he died of a sickness that had plagued him for years, at the age of only 36.
Gary I's only son, Ethert, was crowned as the God-emperor Ethert I in 53 MT, at the age of 13, and ruled for 7 years. He had two children after marrying the much-older Irinian noblewoman Sandra Ira at the age of 18, Elean and Roguy. Sandra reportedly had the young Emperor killed as she wanted more direct power through her children.
Ethert & Sandra's second-born child, Roguy, was named as the 6th Irinian God-emperor in 60, at the age of only 2. He died of a widespread disease (the details of which are fairly vague) just one year later, in 61 MT.
Roguy's older sister, Elean, became the first God-queen of Irin in 61, at the young age of 4. Unlike her younger brother, she survived 17 years of rule, and bore 2 heirs with her Husband, Dylan, who was her third cousin through William I's second-son James. They were married in 75 MT, despite Sandra Ira's best intentions to force Elean into marrying her own nephew. Their story was recorded by the Irinian Priests of Love as an example of true love some years later. Dylan, son of Aaron, son of James, son of William I, who had been trained in the castle as a knight during Elean's early rule, met the queen in 72 MT when he was 14 and she 15, and fell in love with her. He spent a year trying to woo her; however, she remained cold to her younger cousin. But during the great fire of 73, he risked his life to save the God-Queen, who was trapped in her tower of the Castle Catla. He was burned badly, and was to be left to die as of the tradition of the time, yet the young Queen found sympathy for Dylan, and ordered him to be nursed back to health. When he returned to full health, the two fell in love, and began courting. At the end of the year 73, Dylan and his father Aaron, son of James, son of William I, prepared a marriage offer to the Queen, which she accepted readily, but the proposal was rejected by the Queen's Mother, Sandra Ira, who wished the royal bloodline to stay within her own family, specifically through her nephew. She challenged the proposal in the court of the King of Gods, William I. The court Priests nearly ruled in favour of Sandra Ira, as she was known to have a very smooth tongue, but Elean gave an impassioned speech, beseeching the priests to rule in the favour of true love, wherever it may be found. The priests reposed, and ruled in favour of Elian and Dylan. They were married the day after her 18th Birthday, in 75 MT. Together they ruled a happy kingdom, despite the backdrop of the 57 years war that persisted throughout the entirety of their short, but sweet reign. Elean died in 78, at the age of 21, after the birth of their second child, Elean.
Elean's firstborn son, William III
Unfortunately for his god-emperor claims, he only controlled about a fifth of the former Legoian Empire (including the Irin region). Two others, a former Legoian Advisor, and a fellow general, had gained control over the rest of the land. Throughout the next 169 years, the three empires fought constantly, all claiming to be the rightful Legoian Empire. The Irin had suffered greatly under the original Legoians, but they experienced relative peace and prosperity under the Catlish Dynasty, as their isolated location protected them from most of the inter-successor-empire spats. Regrettably, Fate had made other decisions for them.
In 192 MT, the Latian republic conquered all three spatting nations, after launching an air invasion, through Irin, which they saw as a strategically useful center of operations in the region. This proved correct, and benefitted the Latians greatly, and once again ended up oppressed by others. Just 8 years afterwards, in 200, a group of Latian Rebels who called themselves the Spartans saw the same strategic significance in the Plateau, and conquered it. Despite their professed goals of making life easier for everyone and increasing equality before the law, the Irin were oppressed even more under the rebel group, as they were accused of being Latian sympathizers. The Spartan Rebellion was defeated by the Latians in 202, when they were pushed out of Irin. Ironically, the Latians too began to treat them even worse, as they suspected the Irinians of being Spartan sympathizers. In truth, the few surviving documents published by Irinians during this period paint a very different picture. According to the Irinian Philosopher Bartholomew Sarcat, “The Irinians do not sympathize with either side. For the past 200 years, they have suffered great injustices from every foreign power that has conquered them. The most recent record of an Irinian Ruler in Irin is a single page of a manuscript describing the Reign of ‘Good King Vernalk.’ It is high time that we change that.” Sarcat was executed for his dissentious teachings in 209. The next year, a new power found itself possessing the region. The New Roman Republic (NRR) was rapidly expanding, and gobbled up Irin - which they renamed to the Campestrem Regionem (CR) - along with many other provinces. Since they were such a large empire, the Campestrem Regionem was not enough of an important minority to really oppress, which granted its inhabitants a break in the monotony of despotic rule. It was widely touted as a good vacation spot, and business boomed. Education and literacy rates skyrocketed, and the region’s economy grew, causing the poverty rate to drop drastically. The NRR had done for the Irin people in 1 year what the last 214 couldn’t. But, unsurprisingly for the region, it didn’t last very long. The very next year, the Ben’s Bed Republic (BBR) declared war on the NRR and took the Campestrem Regionem in a very swift, clever operation that highlighted many of the problems with the NRR Army. However, the NRR refused to publicly admit their mistake, and blamed the event on a non-existent anti-roman sentiment within the CR. When they reclaimed the CR, they began systemically discriminating against those living there. Once again, it seemed as though there was no hope for the future of the Irinians.
Ren’s Rebellions:
Roots of the Rebellion
When he got on the wrong flight in 218, and accidentally ended up in the Campestrem Regionem, a 19-year-old Sergio Ren had no idea that he would one day be the most powerful man to ever grace the area.
Ren’s First Rebellion
The NRR began to have casualty after casualty after casualty, and they declared eventually declared war. But they still didn’t know who they were fighting. In the official declaration of war, the Consuls announced a “suitable response to the aggression shown by internationally backed Insurgents and Seperatists.” Ren’s “Small War” was working exactly as it was supposed to, but it wasn’t getting any larger. Despite the fact that the NRR was actively at war with his resistance, he had no supplies to fight in pitched warfare. For now, he just had to stick to Guerilla Warfare. But his luck changed in 222; An anonymous contact gave him money, weapons and intel. Initially suspicious of the possibility of a trap, Ren refused. However, as their situation grew more perilous, Ren and the rebellion leaders decided that it was worth the risk. And it was. The contact provided them with enough funding for several years, weapons for an army thrice their size, and supplies galore. Much of the weapons and supplies had been siphoned off from the NRR Army’s own storage, and had been unnoticed or ignored by inventory auditors. They set up camps all across the Campestrem Regionem, and prepared for far more open warfare. Since the Weapons were actually brought into the country for a legal reason, the Roman military had no preparations for the scale of war that Ren could now wage. During The Parade Day Celebrations on the 24th of 222, Ren launched a surprise attack on 4 different outposts across the region, successfully killing just above 200 NRR Soldiers, and capturing a lot of high-quality weaponry and supplies. After another surprise attack on a fifth NRR military outpost, many of the Campestrem Regionem’s oppressed inhabitants finally got the courage to join him. The NRR Senate received intel from their sources that, overnight, the rebellion had doubled in size, to nearly 2,000 rebels. Before this, the NRR had assumed that the resistance, while very troublesome, had been a localized effort, and not widespread across their Colony. This step in the rebellion’s size and boldness opened their eyes to the situation. The NRR Senate announced that, in response to the Parade Day Attacks, they were dispatching three Legions of the Roman-Ottenburgian Army into the Campestrem Regionem. With their anonymous supplier of weapons also supplying them with intel on the NRR Army’s movements, the Rennian Rebellion attacked weak spots, and predicted how the Army would move, so he could avoid them whenever they felt like it. But, despite this, the Army of New Rome was still bigger, better equipped, and better trained. Ren led a night attack on a small outpost in the very west of the Campestrem Regionem a few days after the new troops arrived, which was violently and brutally repelled by an overwhelming number of Roman Troops (the best estimates say that the Rebels were likely outnumbered 4.3:1). Those who survived retreated, disheartened. While Ren managed to successfully carry out a few more raids on Roman Territory, the scale of the Parade Day Attacks couldn’t be achieved again. By the Rebels. Three days before Parade Day, 223, the Rebel camp, deep in the trees, was struck by a surface-surface missile around 4:00 AM, which instantly killed 14 rebels. The rebels woke in a panic, as sentries began calling in to report that the Roman Army was approaching from three directions. Ren’s most recent headcount had the Rebel Forces sitting on 1,578 men and women. In contrast, each of the Roman Legions was 4,000 strong. With all three legions approaching their camp, they were hopelessly outnumbered. As more advance missiles struck the camp, Ren gave the order to scatter, and await further instructions. Ren left with just a few of his close friends and commanders, who took a convoy of three jeeps through the forest. They passed two Roman Checkpoints, both of whom let them through, assuming that the Roman Vehicles were carrying wounded. The group sneaked all the way to the Campestrem’s Border with the Latian Republic, one of the NRR’s Enemies, where they were admitted quietly, and given political asylum. According to Roman Records, 987 Rebels were captured that day, the 21st of 223, and international reporters counted 176 bodies in and around the camp. The NRR executed 650 of the Captured Rebels in the coming years, all on counts of high treason to the Senate of the New Roman Republic. Including those incarcerated and not, 752 Rebels remained breathing, when there had been 2,245 fighting just a year before. The First Rennian Rebellion had failed. However, Ren did not give up hope, and nearly immediately founded the Irinian Freedom Council, (IFC), who would go on to lead the charge to start another rebellion in the CR.
Ren’s Second Rebellion (The Rennian Resistance)
Four years later, in 227, the NRR was struck a devastating blow by power-hungry Senator Dracula P. Davis (Who later was revealed to be secret funder of the first rebellion).
First Battle of Legoia

Ren chose to appear overconfident and underpowered, and lure the NRR army into a feeling of relative safety. To achieve that end, on the 8th of 227, he declared war on the NRR through a television broadcast in the capital city-Legoia- during which he showed the world his “might.” The Broadcast frightened the Roman General Alan Khardov, who was stationed in another quarter of Legoia with the 14th Lego Legion. Despite how small Ren’s army seemed, Khardov rushed to engage them, in fear of them doing significant damage to the center of Roman Campestrem. He rushed his army out of bed at 2:30 AM (25 minutes after the broadcast began airing) in order to engage the Rebels in the 4th Quarter of Legoia. Ren and the 2nd Resisting Division drew the 14th out of the North gate, where the Roman Legion was cut off by the arrival of the 1st, 4th, & 5th Resisting Divisions, while the 3rd Resisting Division stormed the city centre from the East Gate, taking the 14th’s Undefended Barracks and command centre. Khardov refused to let his soldiers surrender, and consequently the 14th was battered from every side in their coverless position for nearly 2 hours, losing 2,845 soldiers to the relentless fire of the surrounding Rebels, who lost a comparatively tiny 200 soldiers. Finally, Khardov, at the centre of the 14th, was killed by a surface-surface missile fired from one of Ren’s Missile-Laden Trucks. His subordinates immediately began waving any white objects that they could find, and telling their soldiers to lay down their weapons. All of them were arrested, and put in a Roman Internment Camp built for Rebels and Insurgents against the Authority of the Romans. The battle of Legoia was the first major Battle in the Rennian Resistance. Of the roughly 1,200 Romans who surrendered, nearly 100 died of major wounds within the next 24 hours, although the rest of them remained relatively healthy throughout the remainder of the war. With Legoia completely in their control, and almost all of the Roman Troops within the Campestrem either imprisoned or killed, the Rebels basically had control of the Campestrem Regionem. Ren dispatched the 1st Resisting Division to the North Western Cerlis County, the 2nd to the Southern Reiths County, the 3rd to the Northern Brutus County, the 4th to the Southern Balka County, and kept the 5th in Legoia, preparing for a Roman Counterstrike, which they knew would come, at some point. They just didn’t know how swift and strong the response would be, and how dangerous the Roman General truly would be.
The Roman Counterstrike & Second Battle of Legoia

Just as Ren and his commanders had expected, the NRR Senate declared a National Emergency, as they watched the Campestrem Regionem suddenly begin to slip out of their fingers.
Spar Siege

Krennic split his roughly 7,500 men into three “Units”, which he named the 60th, 70th, and 80th Avenging Units. He immediately dispatched the 60th to take on the Rebels who had dug themselves in west of the Romans in Spar, the County Capital of Cerlis. Krennic knew that, in order to win this fight, he had to conquer the Rebels before he ran out of supplies and troops. While the extra 1,100 soldiers he had freed from the POW camps were useful, they added more strain on his already thin resources. Although a Victory, the Cerlis Conflict set the stage for the Romans to Lose the Independence War. The 60th used the Roman’s boats to cross the Lisenne, and began Marching west to Spar. Spar sat on a small hill, amidst a very flat plain, which formed the basin of an ancient crater. As soon as the Romans entered the basin, they were visible to the 1st Resisting Division, who had dug trenches all along the exterior of the town, and were prepared to fight anywhere and everywhere necessary to keep the 60th at Bay. The 60th suffered significant casualties as they approached Spar Hill, before they were finally forced to dig themselves in, as well. They dug a Zig-Zag trench back to the rim of the crater, outside of which they began to log the surrounding forest, and slice the trees down into thick boards. Setting those above the trenches as rudimentary Defence, they began to dig their way towards Spar. Finally, they hit the foundations of an outskirt building. An Advance team blew a hole in the foundation, then dug, and fought, their way into the building. Once the Romans had control of the building, they began to fight their way into nearby buildings. Meanwhile, the 2nd Resisting Division had begun to mobilise towards Spar, along the long road via Spalke. The 60th managed to move the majority of their forces within the city boundaries by the second nightfall. During the night, things quieted down, as neither side could see the other. Krennic had planned for the battle to be over by the third day, budgeting for a full day of Street Fighting. However, the Rebels put up stiffer Defence than he had anticipated, and, by the end of the third day, the 60th had control of only the Southeastern quarter of the small town. The next day proved even less fruitful, as their previous gains had only brought them closer to the tallest building in town, where the Rebels had positioned many snipers. However, the 5th day proved quite fruitful for the Romans. They fought their way up the eastern side of the city. By the 5th nightfall, the Romans had full control of the eastern half of the town. However, the 2nd Resisting Division was much nearer now. The Romans needed a fast victory, and they hadn’t got one in Spar. What was supposed to be a skirmish, or perhaps a short battle, had become a siege. However, their victory was saved very narrowly when, on the 6th day of the Siege, they made a major breakthrough into the Northwest section of the town, and also managed to take the central bank outlet, where all the snipers had been stationed. Suddenly, the tide of the battle turned, and the Rebels began to fight to get the town back, rather than to keep the town. By nightfall, Roman Snipers had forced many Rebels out of position, and the Romans had firm control of the city. Under the cover of darkness, the last defence of the town was dropped, and the engines of the Rebels’ trucks roared to life, as they fled south, towards Rufusville. The Romans had conquered Cerlis County. During the fighting, about 150 Romans were killed, and almost 250 Rennians. Furthermore, of the ~40,000 civillians who lived in Spar, International Reporters counted 286 bodies of civilians. It was unclear which side inflicted collateral damage on the civilians.
Battle of Balka Lake

The 4th Resisting Division remained in Inare, the Capital of Balka County, awaiting an inevitable attack by another Roman Unit, which came two days after the Spar Siege began. The 80th Avenging Unit sailed down the Lisenne into Lake Balka. From the lake, they began to shell Inare, killing Civilians and Rebels alike. The 4th Resisting Division decided that they couldn’t allow constant shelling on the town of 150,000 people, so, on the first night of the attack, they moved out of Inare, just west, to the mouth of the stream, effectively cutting off the Roman Army’s retreat. They began to load their missile trucks late in the night, and began firing at the Roman Boats at dawn. The Romans had some countermeasures, though, and their boats suffered no serious damage. However, as soon as the Rebel bombardment subsided, they began firing back at the beach, completely routing the thousand Rebels on the beach. The 4th began to flee north, towards Brutuville, where the 3rd and 5th were already camping. The Romans sent their boats back North to Legoia with a skeleton crew, then began pursuing the 4th by Land. The Victorious Romans left behind a shattered Inare, which, even just from one night of shelling, had suffered 2,347 civilian deaths. 78 Rebels were left on the beach, killed by the Roman Shells, and 26 Romans were killed by Rennian Missile Fire. Ren, along with 3 of his Divisions, were now holed up in Brutuville, with two of Krennic’s Units bearing down on them, while Krennic himself led the 80th South towards Spalke, where the 2nd Resisting Division was getting settled. Krennic’s two fronts had scythed the Rebel Army down the center, which was completely destroying their ability to respond strongly.
The Southwestern Campaign

General Krennic personally commanded the 70th Avenging Unit south along the River to Spalke, where they engaged the 2nd Resisting Division early in the morning, shelling the army encampment, which was just to the south of Spalke. Unlike many of his commanders, Krennic avoided Civilian Deaths as much as possible, as he believed Militaries existed to fight other militaries, not Civilians. After laying down a cover of shells and smoke, the 70th Avenging Unit pushed up from the beach of the Lisenne, coming at the 2nd’s camp from two directions off of the two different ships. In the haze and smoke from all the shells, the Rebels never even saw the 70th approaching them. They suffered huge losses, and when they finally escaped their own camp, the 2nd was down 400 soldiers, which amounted to nearly half of the unit. Only 22 civilians were killed during the quick, painful, engagement, less than any other engagement yet in the war, barring the 1st Battle of Legoia.
They retreated quickly to Reiths, where they camped out beyond the city, along the road, which led to Rufusville, where the 1st Resisting Division was licking its wounds. Krennic was getting desperate at this point. He was running out of resources, and fast. And yet, he still hadn’t soundly defeated even one of Ren’s Divisions. Every time, so far, the majority of the rebels had escaped. Krennic was determined not to let this happen again. However, he had to rush off to try and command the Brutuville Invasion, where 3/5 of Ren’s army was now camping. He delegated authority of the attack on Reiths to his subordinate, 70th Centurion Yan Segira. Noting that the 2nd had camped beyond the city, Krennic made the decision to withdraw whatever artillery power they had left, and devote it all to Sieging Brutuville. Segira slowed down his army’s advance on Reiths, and quietly dispatched a large group of his own soldiers to, quickly, find a way to get behind what remained of the 2nd. Under Krennic’s oversight, his Unit had lost just under two hundred soldiers at Spalke, which was much higher than either had anticipated, but still left them plenty of men to spread out. Segira dispatched 700 of his 2,318 soldiers to flank the miniscule rebel force. Resisting Colonel Agaré Meleny had predicted that Segira would try and swing around and cut off their escape, so to combat that possibility, he dispatched 250 of his 642 soldiers to fan out into the surrounding woods and thwart Segira’s attempts to surround him. Col. Meleny also ordered his troops to begin slowly moving away from Reiths. As his advance party in the forest came into contact with the Romans, they realised that Segira had dispatched a far larger group than they originally anticipated. Meleny’s 250 Rebels were very outgunned by the 700 Romans. Meleny, realising that even his entire remaining force wouldn’t be enough to surely defeat all of the Roman Advance Party, and that retreating would only prolong the inevitable, and was in the interest of the Romans, made a decision that would grant him and every soldier a spot in the history books. Meleny gave the order that any soldier who was willing to die that day to stay with him, and anyone else should either turn themselves over to the Romans, or run away to join the 1st in Rufusville. 47 rebels left him to join the 1st. He ordered the 250 rebels in the forest to draw the romans around, and inflict as much damage as possible, without regard for escape. The other 345 raced with him, back towards Reiths, on the other side of which, the massive Roman force was approaching, with no way to know that the Rebels were in the city. Meleny told Civilians to move to the south sector as fast as possible, away from where the Main Road ran through Reiths, then moved his own forces into higher floors of buildings throughout the north part of town, and onto the roofs; Reiths was well known for its unusual abundance of flat roofs. Segira and his army approached Reiths, noticing nothing except that it was unusually quiet. However, once they were inside, the gates to the medieval city were slammed shut, and Segira realised the trap he’d just walked into. Gunfire broke out from the rooftops where rebels hid, and hundreds of grenades – homemade and otherwise – were lobbed into the street. Segira’s forces fell into panic, and began to scatter. Segira himself, while a highly decorated Roman Officer, had never needed to physically fight, although he spent much of his career on the front lines. He was struck by shrapnel in his left arm, a wound that he carried the rest of his life. However, he powered through his wounds to try and reorganize his army’s efforts. They retreated to the alleyways, where the line of fire was less direct, before Segira ordered them to begin storming buildings. Despite suffering heavy casualties, they began to clear out the rebels hiding in the buildings. Segira himself took refuge in a Diner that was believe to be cleared, to try and deal with his wound, but he was captured by a group of Meleny’s rebels, who had been hiding in the Diner’s walk-in fridge. They killed his Medic, and took him hostage, dragging him through the back streets to where Meleny was stationed. They hoped that, without Segira’s Leadership, the Romans would panic again, and become even easier pickings. However, Krennic had already done what he needed to. Slowly, the Romans began to clear the rooftop gunners out, and by staying indoors and in alleys as much as possible, they avoided much of the Grenade Fire that they had been subjected to in the initial stages of the battle. Meanwhile, in the forest, the 250 rebels, who had been handpicked by Meleny and his officers were inflicting incredible amounts of damage on the Romans. The forest part of the battle became known as the “Charge of Death,” as every Rebel fought until they were killed. In the end, the Romans captured 23 of the 250 Rebels who had entered the forest, and the rest lay dead among the trees. However, of the 700 Romans that went into the forest, only 248 walked out Every Rebel had taken at least two Romans with them. Inside the city, a similar story began playing out. Several captured rebels ended their own lives by pulling the pins of their own grenades, and taking several captors with them. Meleny’s position, where the injured Segira was being held, was eventually stormed. Meleny attempted to use Segira as a human shield, but made the mistake of standing to full height in order to shoot at the Romans coming up the stairs more easily. When he stood, he managed only a few shots before a Roman Sniper dropped him from a distant rooftop. Segira’s Forces spent nearly three days flushing out the last rebels, who put up an incredibly stiff defence. However, true to Krennic’s ideals, only 3 civilian fatalities were recorded, and all of them accidents. When Segira could finally open the town’s gates again, and reunite with the 248 forest survivors, he took with him 36 prisoners, who he imprisoned alongside the 23 captured in the forest. 309 Rebels had been killed inside the city. But with them, they had taken 874 Romans. Segira had won, but the battle had taken more time that he could budget for, and cost him 1,326 soldiers; More than half of the 70th Avenging Unit never left Reiths, including one of their band tribunes, Vincent Placcila Cavillus. After hearing a debrief of the result of the battle, Krennic wrote in his personal diary that “I have great respect for these Rebels. They are willing to die for their cause. They are resourceful. They are willing to do anything for their cause. They must truly believe in it. I do not believe there is anything I believe in so deeply. I truly can wish there was, but nothing comes to mind. Should every Rebel I have to fight is willing to die like these were, then the war may as well be lost.” Segira ordered most of what remained of the 70th to press forwards, towards Rufusville, where 870 members of the 1st Resisting Division awaited them. However, he realised that, in the Siege of Brutuville, Krennic had taken all of his Artillery and Surface-Surface Missiles, and thanks to the prolonged Battle of Reiths, they were in short supply of ammunition and rations, as well. He broke off 180 members of the 70th to return to Legoia under the command of his second Band Tribune, Jupitus Tuso, and resupply. Meanwhile, Krennic had travelled quickly to meet up with the 60th and 80th, who had closed in on Brutuville, where the 3rd and 5th had begun to prepare for siege, and the 4th had just arrived.
Battle of Brutuville

On the 14th day of the Second Rebellion – the same day that the Romans reconquered Spalke – 3,064 Rebels were in Brutuville, awaiting the arrival of 4,835 Roman Soldiers, the 80th approaching from the south, and the 60th from the east. The 60th had conquered Cerlis County with minimal casualties, and had rushed back through Legoia, not even stopping to restock their supplies, assuming that they would have enough supplies to defeat Brutuville and then return to Legoia to restock. Their forces spread out, and surrounded the Rebel city from the East, South, and West, cutting off their escape routes. Krennic issued an Ultimatum to Ren. It Read “To avoid civilian casualties, The Roman Army, in the name of the Roman Consul, Lucius Rufus Brutus, offers a chance to save civilian Lives. Provided that no Rebel Forces attempt to use our generosity against us, the Roman Army will refrain from bombarding any part of the city north of Lightfoot St. Informers within the city will tell us if a Rebel soldier sets foot north of there. Should any Rebel Soldier (s) abuse our generosity, we will no longer refrain from shelling civilians to weed out the Rebels among them. You have until sundown tonight to move the civilians.” Ren carefully read the hand-delivered message several times, and after careful discussion with the Colonels of the 3rd, 4th, and 5th, decided to take Krennic’s Offer. He sent back another message with the same Roman Courier, which read “General Krennic. My respect for you as a military adversary has grown. You may assume that this Rebellion is because I care for the wellbeing of the individuals living in the Campestrem Regionem. Because of your noble offer to save Brutuville from many painful deaths and injuries, without any additional damages to the chances of our forces, we accept this Proposal. Any Rebel Soldier who sets foot across Lightfoot St. will be assumed to be a traitor, and imprisoned or executed. We will do everything in our power to only have to fight you. However, do not expect mercy form us for this generous gift. Notwithstanding your generous offer, your subordinates have already killed nearly 2,700 innocent civilians. Any chance we will get to bring your centurions to justice, we will take.” Reportedly, it was during the writing of this document, with his colonels, that Ren uttered the famous line “I don’t fight for those who survived in Brutuville. I fight for those who died in Inare.” The Civilians were given notice of what happened, and began to move. Almost all of them were moved by nightfall. Krennic blared a loud horn an hour, and 30 minutes before nightfall, and as soon as the sun disappeared over the horizon, he gave the order to start shelling the Rebel section of the city. All through the night, the Roman Shells crashed down where Ren and his men were hiding out. Brutuville had an extensive underground tunnel system, that dated back to the War of Legoian Succession. Many Rebels took refuge in these tunnels, and avoided the sure death from above. Ren organized those on the surface, who attempted to avoid being destroyed the shells, which were destructive, but only struck the city every 30 seconds. Using one of the few Infrared Scanners they had, two of Ren’s technicians – George Spalding & Smith Coldbank – discovered a way to guess where any given shell would hit, and warn any Rebels in the immediate vicinity of the Roman’s target. Many rebels were saved that night because of those two technicians, both of whom Ren later decorated with the Order of the Crossed Blade. When the sun rose on Brutuville, after a long night of destruction, The Rebels, thanks to the underground tunnels, Spalding, and Coldbank, had suffered a lot less than initially expected. Only 107 men had been killed in the first night of the onslaught. Krennic sent an Advance Guard to test the Rebels, but as they approached Brutuville, they were mowed down by Rebels they couldn’t even see. Krennic was surprised at the resistance, as he was unaware of the tunnels under the city, and assumed he had done more damage than he truly had. So, he began shelling again. The 15th day of the rebellion, when the 70th arrived in Reiths, into the waiting teeth of the 2nd, saw the 3rd, 4th, and 5th bombarded constantly by the Romans. Krennic needed to take Brutuville, in order to free up enough troops to resupply in Legoia. His supplies were seriously dwindling, and his army grew restless as they watched Rations & Ammunition deplete quickly. Krennic needed a victory. Ren knew this though. In his own words, “[Ren] never was a better tactician than General Krennic. But Krennic was trying to fight a losing battle, for a failing Empire, and [Ren] knew that.” Ren gave the command that, no matter what followed, they would not leave Brutuville at any cost until at least the 18th day of the War. Krennic heard of this, and he began to get nervous. The latest he could maintain a siege on Brutuville was the 19th day. And even that would be pushing his luck, as he would have to send a lot of troops back to Legoia very quickly to try and restock everything they needed. Ren was betting on it. For the next three days, as the 2nd took down more than half of the 70th, the 3rd, 4th, and 5th were battered on every side by Krennic’s unrelenting forces. They lost soldiers, but a surprisingly low number, given the circumstances. Every morning, Krennic tested his opponents, but every morning the Advance Guard was pushed back, or even annihilated. Ren had chosen a good place to hole up for such a battle: The roads leading into Brutuville were raised, and there was little cover around them. The 18th day of the war saw Ren’s plan begin to fall, though. A higher number of casualties the night before left their exterior defence lacking, and the Advance Guard managed to make it within city bounds (what was left of the city, that is). Ren’s forces moved into retreat, trying to regroup in a position to take out the advance party. Eventually, they managed to, but not before the Advance Guard punched a hole in the Western Defense, and Krennic rushed the 60th in. Ren couldn’t retaliate, and ordered his troops to move into retreat. They amassed on the Eastern Side of town, where a portion of the 80th was blocking the road. However, Ren’s men were desperate, and needed a way out. They successfully baited the Romans into attacking them up the Eastern Highway, after which Ren’s forces hid in the rubble at the western edge of Brutuville, as the 60th began moving in the east, and opened fire on the members of the 80th that were advancing up the coverless eastern highway. Many of the 80th were killed in just a few minutes, and the 80th was sent into panic. Those at the front began to try and turn back, while those at the back, who didn’t know what was going on, continued forwards. Before enough order was regained to retreat, the 80th lost many soldiers in that foolhardy attack. Like all of Krennic’s Units, the 80th had a centurion, and under him two Band Tribunes. The 2nd Band Tribune of the 80th – Gaian Tiberius – had led the foolhardy attack up the Eastern Highway, which weakened them enough that the Rebels punched right through their lines, and, with a rear guard of trucks with lots of angry soldiers with guns, as well as some large, truck-mounted machine guns, successfully escaped. Tiberius ordered his own trucks to attempt to catch up with the rapidly fleeing Rebels, but several ran out of fuel on the way, and the rest didn’t have enough ammunition to do real damage to the mass of rebels moving west towards Gaius, in Iulius County. Krennic, on hearing that Tiberius’ foolhardy decisions had cost him the destruction of the rebels, was both infuriated, and relieved simultaneously. Infuriated on one had, because had Tiberius simply kept his ground, the Rebels would’ve been wiped out within the town, or on trying to exit on one of the coverless highways. However, at the time of the Rebel retreat, his forces had only enough shells to continue bombarding the city for around 30 more minutes. As reports of the even less successful chase (ordered by Tiberius) filtered back to Krennic, he decided to let the rebels flee to Gaius, and resupply before he attacked them again, hopefully to wipe them out once and for all. In all the fighting, the Rebels had lost nearly 650 soldiers, and the Romans had lost 830, the majority of whom had been mowed down on the Eastern Highway in the last morning. Krennic’s forces and supplies were both at a tipping point. However, Krennic knew that, if he simply pressured the Rebels, he could tip everything in his favour. But Ren had planned ahead. The nearby Roman Colony of Nova Terra, where he had recruited many of his soldiers, had been much more receiving than he allowed the Romans to know. Furthermore, his best trained troops had also been sent to Nova Terra, and hadn’t yet been involved in the war. As soon as Krennic dispatched 180 men from each unit to go to Legoia and get supplies for his Units, Ren made a call that would change the direction of the war dramatically.
The Third Battle of Legoia & the beginning of the Anti-Counterstrike

540 Romans, 180 from each unit, were gathered in Legoia to resupply under the command of Jupitus Tuso, the 2nd Band Tribune of the 70th. Around noon on the 19th day of the war, an unexpected noise was heard. The rumble of airplane engines. The three Aquilifirae heard from exited soldiers that the planes looked Roman. They were pleasantly surprised, as they had not expected supply shipments from Nova Italia, but they assumed their requests had been heard. Many rushed out to the Airfield, on the outskirts of Legoia, as 10 large cargo planes landed. They formed up in Ceremonial Organization, preparing to receive shipments of supplies that would help them greatly in the war. A few soldiers reportedly noted that none of the planes had the Roman Ensign on their tails, but this was brushed off, as many cargo planes in the outer colonies were older, and their appearance was less vigilantly maintained. The doors to the first plane opened, and Gunfire broke out from inside, lighting up the front lines of the Ceremonially Organized Romans. They panicked, and dashed for cover, trying to flee the unexpected Enemy. Several planes had not yet landed, and opened fire on the crowd, as more and more Rebels who they hadn’t even known existed until just then flooded out of the Planes on the ground. 1,625 Rebels of the 6th Resisting Division landed in Legoia that day. 47 of them were killed, but not a single one of the Romans left the Legoia Airfield. The Leader of the Resupply Mission - Jupitus Tuso, was captured rather than executed as all other Roman Soldiers attempting to flee had been.

Krennic received the News by sundown on the 19th day, and immediately gathered his officers to inform them of his plan of action. His speech was recorded. It went as follows. “Romans, countrymen. Many years ago, I fought to free New Rome from an oppressive government. Now others are doing the same thing to what they believe is the same kind of government. We came here with the mission of defeating the Rebels. However, since they’ve taken back Legoia, we are dangerously low on supplies. We cannot sustain an attack on Legoia, we cannot sustain an attack on Gaius, we cannot sustain an attack on Rufusville. If we wish not to lose, our course of action must bring us supplies. Spalke has a small store. So does Inare. We must move to these places if we are to have a fighting chance. Otherwise, the Rebels have already won their freedom.” Krennic ordered Centurion Segira to move the 70th out of Reiths, and resupply what they could in Spalke. He also moved the 60th and 80th south from Brutuville, rather than east towards the Rebels, to try and reach Inare to resupply what they could. The 1st emerged from Rufusville as soon as the 60th began to leave Reiths, however, the 60th’s fuel reserves were running out, and many Roman Soldiers ended up having to walk along the road behind the convoy, and abandon their transports when they ran out of Diesel. The 1st moved into Reiths, where they were greeted happily by the civilians. Ren’s forces raced to reclaim Brutuville, which had seen tough fighting just a day and a half before, but now held not a single Roman Soldier. The Rebels, quite literally, just walked into the city. Ren hijacked the Roman-State-Television Station in Brutuville to make an announcement. He offered any Roman Soldier who would come to them, and lay down his weapons & equipment a full pardon, and potentially transport back to Nova Italia. The next day, the 50-strong rear guard who had been left in Spar to maintain order offered a conditional surrender to the 6th Resisting Division in Legoia (who had just flown in). Provided they were granted proper rations, pay, and pardon, they would be willing to offer their services to the Rebels. The 6th Resisting Division’s Colonel Antonia Hadrian di Sala Serana, herself a Roman Deserter (She was the first woman accepted into the Roman Military, and had risen through the ranks very quickly. However, the prejudice she faced for her gender eventually pushed her to leave the Roman Military altogether, and join Ren) was sympathetic, and accepted their surrender. She did not re-arm them in her own troops, however, explaining to them that she needed assurances of their intentions. The 50 men would later be integrated into the Army, though. Leaving 100 men & women in Legoia to maintain peace, and watch over the 50 deserters, the 6th then moved out, to meet up with Ren & his three divisions.
Battle of Inare

Meanwhile, in Inare, the Romans had found only a small supply depot, much of which had already been taken by the Rebels. And, there was other bad news for them, as well. They had travelled slowly, thanks to their low fuel reserves, and the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th were all bearing down on them, much faster than expected. Krennic ordered that they refill every vehicle that had made it to Inare from any fuel depot that remained. However, from the 80th’s shelling of the city (during which 2,347 civilians had been killed), most of the Military Fuel Depots as well as Commercial Petrol Stations had been destroyed. However, enough fuel was found to evacuate 750 men to Spalke, where the 70th reported there was much more fuel. Krennic decided that they would have to evacuate 750 at a time, crossing the river on their invasion boats, and just hope that they made it to Spalke before the Rebels arrived. The first 750 arrived safely in Spalke, and the trucks returned, with the boats carrying them across the river, for the second wave of evacuations. The loaded trucks made it to the boats, and the first half were loaded on. They were transported across the river, and got off, now on their way to Spalke. The boats returned to the Balka shore again, where the 4th set of 375 men in trucks were preparing to cross. The boats set off slowly across the huge river, and made it nearly halfway before they were attacked. From nearly a mile up shore, surface-surface missiles were launched, almost all of them finding home in the sides of the ships. Now the soldiers in Inare were trapped. They launched a counter offensive, not realising the size of the Rebel Army entering the destroyed city. The Romans suffered huge casualties initially as they marched out into the open, while the Rebels once again used rubble as cover, before realizing the size of the Rebel forces. The 60th Centurion, Stefan Sidareta, who had remained in Inare to coordinate the evacuation quickly sent Ren an offer of Surrender. Ren accepted, and both sides were ordered to ceasefire. Of the 3,535 Romans who made it to Inare, 1,125 crossed the river successfully. During the sabotage of the boats & the ensuing battle, 1,478 Romans were killed. The remaining 932 surrendered their weapons and equipment, and were held in the Roman’s Second POW camp, roughly 40 miles outside of Inare. The Rebels had lost far fewer from their ranks; 379 soldiers didn’t go home from Inare.
The Fall of Roman Rule

Krennic, Yan Segira, and Liassem Horatian (The 80th’s Centurion) were now holed up in Spalke, along with 2,124 Roman Soldiers. 870 members of the 1st Resisting Division were approaching from the Southwest, 50 of their own soldiers and 100 members of the 6th were approaching from the north, and the rest of the 6th was approaching across the river, along with the entire 3rd, 4th, and 5th. The 4 units had quickly rebuilt the bridge that the Romans had destroyed enough that it could be used, and had crossed the Lisenne. Within a few hours, they had the Romans surrounded. Krennic had hoped to make a final stand, and potentially fight a corridor to Legoia. However, when his troops took inventory in Spalke, they realised that they didn’t have enough rations, fuel, or ammunition to fight back. Ren’s counter-counterstrike had been exceptionally well planned, just as Krennic had feared. Krennic declared that, as NRR Soldiers, they would still fight the rebels. But his soldiers disagreed. They became restless, and nearly rioted as they demanded that Krennic accept Ren’s terms of surrender. Eventually, as Ren’s armies continued to prepare to attack Spalke, Krennic relented. He dispatched a soldier with what he called an “offer” to Ren. All first-hand reports claim that it was more a plea. He offered to turn over all of his officers as Prisoners of War, provided that his soldiers received a Pardon. Ren, who had already offered pardons, accepted the “offer,” and his armies marched into Spalke, to no Resistance. Krennic, Segira, Horatian, and three Band Tribunes (one had surrendered with Sidareta in Inare, one had been captured in the Third Battle of Legoia, and one had been killed in the Death Charge) were arrested, and every soldier who surrendered their weapons and equipment was given a pardon, and sent to a POW camp to await extradition back to the NRR. The Roman Defence against the Rebellion was over.
Only a few soldiers refused to surrender, among them Michael Osborne, the famous billionaire inventor from the NRR. He was not a registered NRR soldier, but had been visiting his son, Leo Osborne, who was a Military Engineer in the 14th. The two of them, along with 36 other NRR Soldiers, refused to surrender, and were arrested. Ren expressed remorse for arresting Osborne, who he held in great respect, and was unaware of Osborne’s participation in the war. All 48 Officers & Loyalist Soldiers were trucked back to Legoia, where Ren officially declared the Campestrem Regionem independent. He offered the NRR Senate, headed by Consul Lucius Rufus Brutus, a deal: They sign a Treaty, recognising the Campestrem as an Independent Nation, and the Campestrem’s new government send every NRR Soldier that had surrendered back home. He received an official reply the next day. The NRR was willing to relent. A personal representative of the Consul, Brutus, was flown out the next day, the 38th of Actaber, 227, to draft a treaty with Ren. After 6 hours of deliberation and finalisation, the representatives of the Resistance and the Representative of the Consul signed a “Recognition of the legitimacy of the Government of The Independent Nation of Campestrem.” Ren had conquered the Romans, and freed the Irin. For the first time in more than 230 years, the Irin were free.
The Empire of the Lego Plains: Forming a New Nation
The very next day, the first day of Dolo, 228, Ren assigned the Colonel of the 5th Resisting Division, John Fel Osborne – who was the father of Michael Osborne – to draft a constitution for their new nation, which he set about doing. Osborne Senior and his son had very differing views on the NRR at that point; whereas Osborne Junior had spent years in government in the NRR, and had spent years of his life fighting to keep it alive, his father felt that he owed the NRR nothing, and had returned to his homeland in the CR to help his family, friends, and countrymen years before the Rebellions. The Independent Nation of Campestrem (INC) still had no official government or government structure. It was unofficially led by Ren, as he was the leader of the Rebellion. Worrying that a power vacuum would be created, the remaining members of the IFC felt that they needed to make a mark on the Campestrem, and cement their position as the leaders of the INC. In response to the thousands of Civilian Deaths sustained during the Battle of the Balka, Ren ordered the execution of the 80th Avenging Unit’s Centurion, Liassem Horatian. By now, Ren was immensely popular with the citizens of the INC, which benefitted him greatly, and this execution served as a signal to much of the INC that the IFC were the leaders of the bourgeoning nation.
Legoian Prison Break
On the 11th of Dolo, 228, Ren received a communique from the imprisoned General Krennic that requested an audience with the INC’s de-facto leader. Ren, unsure of what the purpose of this discussion could be, agreed to meet the defeated General, who told Ren that he believed there was nothing for him in New Rome, except perhaps a firing squad (the unofficial but expected consequence for a commander losing Roman Territory to opposing forces). He offered his Loyalty to the INC in exchange for a pardon and INC citizenship, citing the treaty Ren signed with the NRR, which stated that “The INC declares that all former citizens of the NRR living within the INC shall be granted INC citizenship.” Ren told the General to give him a week to decide. In the meantime, he offered the 38 Roman Soldiers (but not the Centurions or Band Tribunes) who hadn’t yet surrendered a second chance at a pardon and transport. 27 of them accepted, leaving just 11 Roman Soldiers and officers still refusing to surrender, despite being imprisoned. Among these were still the two Osbornes. Despite all of his Father’s effort’s, Michael refused to see his father’s revolutionary ways. After a third opportunity to surrender that none accepted, Ren signed the execution order for all 11, scheduled for the 18th of Dolo. Early in the morning of the 16th, Ren was awakened by an explosion at the Legoian National Prison, where a group of self-proclaimed “Loyalists” who continued to be loyal to the NRR had blown a hole in the wall of the prison. They helped the Roman Soldiers imprisoned there out of prison, and managed to get them to a small private aircraft at the Legoian Airstrip. Of the estimated 50 Loyalists, 3 died during the escape attempt, along with one Prisoner. The Osbornes escaped during this confrontation. However, of the three Loyalists who died, one was Perseus Osborne, Michael’s third-born child, who had been believed dead for just over 4 years, but had secretly been working as an NRR Spy in the colonies during that period. The one prisoner who didn’t make it off the tarmac was Maria Osborne, Leo’s wife, and a fellow NRR Military Engineer. Although she was a traitor to the EotLP cause, it was never clear whether she had been shot by an INC soldier or accidentally shot by one of the Sympathisers, and Emperor Ren posthumously pardoned her of any “perceived” crimes. Because of Ren’s expressed respect for Michael Osborne, many assumed that he may have allowed the escape to happen, to avoid having to execute Osborne. Some people also believed the whole affair was staged by the INC Military, to try and keep resentment towards the NRR peaked. However, the most notable event wasn’t the escape, it was the list of who did not escape. General James Krennic, of the New Roman Counter-Expeditionary force in Campestrem, remained in his cell despite its door being opened by Loyalists. Just one cell away, Stefan Sidareta, the Centurion of the 60th Avenging Unit, which had conquered Spar & Brutuville, also remained in the Prison, along with his 1st Band Centurion (and rumoured lover), Colin Quintus Rotuso. However, Yan Segira, who’s forces had decimated the 2nd Resisting Division, along with 5 of the 6 Band Tribunes, had escaped back to the NRR. When asked why he remained, Krennic repeated his request to Ren: he would give his loyalty to the INC in exchange for a Pardon. Sidareta echoed this request. Ren once again deferred his decision by a week. However, he didn’t need to wait that long. When they arrived in Nova Italia, a National Court found Segira & all 4 Band Tribunes guilty of loss of NRR Territory & Treason, and sentenced them to execution. They were executed the next day, without even a chance to appeal the ruling. On hearing of their sentencing, Ren understood why Sidareta, Rotuso, and Krennic would choose to stay. After he was officially made Emperor of the EotLP on the 28th of Dolo, he granted their pardon as his first Imperial Decree, but declined their offer for immediate military service. They were given modest positions within the in the newly formed EotLP Bureau of Statistics.
The EotLP's Constitution and Birth
On the 26th of Dolo, 228, John Osborne returned from a long session of deliberation with several other advisors, and offered his Constitutional proposal to Ren and the other Rebellion Leaders. It retroactively designated Ren as the Emperor of the "Empire of the Lego Plains (EotLP)", a position which was to be held by Ren for as long as he saw fit, until he considered the EotLP in a stable enough position to support a large bureaucracy, when he would pass leadership of the nation to a freely elected Body of Representatives.
Growth & Acquisition:
Replacing the NRR
Over the first year of the EotLP’s existence, Ren spent most of his time trying to consolidate his new-found power. He expanded the military, signed a second draft of the constitution (which would later be officially instated as the 1st constitution of the EotLP) However, without the NRR supporting them, one of the few benefits of colonisation was lost – almost all outside trade stopped. The Economy of the EotLP suffered greatly. However, the Latian Empire offered to open trade with the EotLP, along with heavy tariffs. Despite how lopsided the deal was, Emperor Ren accepted, and trade began to flow. The Ottenburg Empire offered Ren free trade, but the EotLP didn’t have the resources to economically transport trade goods all the way to the Ottenburg, as Sea Travel was impractical since the Irin Plateau had no sea access, land travel was impractical since they would have to travel down the plateau, and through the NRR Colony of Nova Terra in order to reach the Ottenburg’s Border, and the NRR had wrangled an agreement with the Latian to not allow any EotLP Aircraft into their airspace. Ren knew his nation needed the free trade which the Ottenburg was offering, but couldn’t think of a way to make it profitable, or even possible, so long as the NRR held the land between them and the Ottenburg. Ren could see only one option. The EotLP needed to invade Nova Terra.
The Invasion of Nova Terra
On the 21st of 228, the EotLP Military began to secretly construct a large road down the eastern edge of the Plateau. The EotLP Military had been grown significantly since the Rebellion, and they finished the project within a few days. On the 24th of 228, the first EotLP Soldiers stepped back onto NRR land for the first time since they’d won their freedom, nearly a year ago. The Rennian Army made significant headway into Nova Terra on the first days of the Invasion, meeting the Nova Terran Pressed Militia only a few short times, but they hit a major obstacle within an hour’s drive on their third day; the river. The Lisenne connected with another river as it cascaded off the plateau, and became nearly 30-meter-wide, rapidly flowing, extremely deep by the time it reached Nova Terra. It truly chopped Nova Terra in half. However, Nova Terra was not yet out of reach. The Roman Governor had ordered all bridges across the Lisenne destroyed, but Ren still had a plan. The entire 6th Resisting Division had been recruited from Nova Terra during the Second Resistance, and many of them had returned to the Nova Terra to continue trying to form a similarly successful resistance movement in their own nation. Ren used a TV broadcast to “call to arms” the Nova Terran people, to fight for their freedom from perpetual existence as a Roman Colony. Thousands took up arms across the river in response. Ren was pleased with this, and managed to commandeer a few small boats to begin ferrying over a few of his troops at a time, to support the Rebels.
The Battle of Civitas Murata (Sinaero)
The 26th Lego Legion, who were fortified in the Nova Terran capital of Civitas Murata, were unbeatable. Their high ground, thick fortifications, and state-of-the-art weapons systems seemed to be to much for the motley band of Rebels & Rennian Soldiers. But at the back of Ren’s mind, a plan was developing. He tried every other option, but all of them ended in more of his soldiers & allies dead at the foot of the tallest hill in Nova Terra (13 meters tall). Finally, Ren relented. He made a call back to Legoia, and a convoy left with a very important passenger. The 61-year-old tactical genius James Krennic arrived in Legoia on the night of the 30th of 228. He organized the troops for a late-night attack on the 31st, by which there were nearly 3,000 Nova Terran Rebels, and a further 2,000 Rennian Soldiers had crossed the river on their small, commandeered, boats. On the night of the 31st, there was a new moon. The few Artillery Units Ren had brought into Nova Terra began to focus on the outer edges of Civitas Murata, where the Romans had focused themselves. While Ren was planning on street fighting for several days, Krennic knew that the Roman school of Tactics dictated that open battles were to be forced in as many situations as possible. Therefore, he began marching a column of soldiers down the main road of Civitas Murata. The Romans assembled to respond in the main central square. Meanwhile, more of Krennic’s troops began to swarm through the streets, positioning themselves all throughout the city. When the front of Krennic’s column met the Romans at the edge of the Square, the 26th felt confident in their victory. However, as they pressed forwards, pushing the Rennians & Nova Terrans backwards, Krennic’s troops opened fire from all around the Roman Forces. Within 15 minutes, the Romans surrendered, and were placed under guard. Krennic ordered the Roman General, one General Avoz Di Manareyo, and his officers, transported back to Legoia under guard, but offered the rest of the army extradition back to Nova Italia. Although Krennic held no official power yet, Ren did not contradict any of His orders, which continued to be carried out. Ren contacted the Roman Consul, and offered him the thousand-score of his soldiers who had asked for Extradition, in exchange for Nova Terra, and 15 of the NRR’s newest Tanks, which had only been in production for 5 years – The GIT-1760 “Buffalo”. Brutus agreed to the deal, and dispatched three of his Air Force’s largest jets, each carrying five 1760’s in its belly. The exchange took place on the Nova Terran Airfield. Within 5 hours of being dispatched, the Roman planes had left Nova Terra carrying 400 soldiers each. It would be the last time Roman Military ever set foot in their first Colony.
Integration of Nova Terra (Sinitola)
Tensions began to rise very soon after the Roman Army left Nova Terra, between the Rennians & the Nova Terran Rebels. Although first-hand accounts are quite varied, it is believed that the allied soldiers nearly came to blows over the fate of Nova Terra; were they to be annexed by the EotLP, or gain their own independence?
Collapse of the New Roman Republic
THIS SECTION NEEDS REWORKING. SEE MICHAEL'S PAGE FOR A BETTER EXPLANATION OF THE SITUATION
On the 4th of 229, rumours began to circulate that the government of the NRR was beginning to fall apart. These suspicions were all but confirmed the next day, when Brutus “closed” the government – a New Roman government procedure, when all non-essential Government responsibilities and positions were abolished for a set period of time, in this case two days. When the government re-opened on the 7th, its terrible state was truly laid bare. Sir George, the leader of the ruling coalition in the Senate, had died in a climbing accident. Of the 14 senators (excluding Brutus, the Consul), four others had been killed in a bloody coup attempt on the night of the 4th, two had resigned, and one had died of natural causes, leaving Brutus with less than half of his government. Furthermore, their last monetary reserves had dried up, and the Roman Economy, which had been steeply declining for several years thanks to international embargoes, Sanctions by the Ottenburg, Latian, BBR, EotBTH, and their allies, and a declining population finally fell through the bottom, causing the Roman Sesresti (Rome's attempt to replace the $ MON) to fall more than 75% in value in a single hour. The Ottenburg reportedly began to mobilize troops, in case the opportunity should arise to take Nova Italia. Meanwhile, the Latian took Rome’s Discipulus Regionem Colony, and several other nations swarmed to take the Magnum Crater Regionem Colony, the Garden Colony, and the Effusus Colony. There was no resistance in any of the colonies, as the Army had been sizeably downsized during budget cuts, and New Rome had recalled all 7,500 of their touring soldiers back to Nova Italia after the EotLP Invasion of Nova Terra. By nightfall of the 8th, only Nova Italia remained under Roman Control. Ren boarded a military plane, with a delegation of soldiers and diplomats and took off for Nova Italia in the late hours of the 8th. Brutus personally received him, and they fell into discussions. By that point, electricity had been shut all across the nation because they no longer had the funds to buy excess hydro-power from the Bens Bed Republic (BBR) as they always had. Ren & Brutus discussed the hopeless situation of Nova Italia, and Brutus himself. No matter which nation invaded Nova Italia (which seemed inevitable at this point) Brutus could feel certain that he’d either escape and become public enemy #1, or be killed as a political message. Ren offered him something else. Ren offered him $3,000,000 MON in untraceable bonds, and a public hero nomination. Brutus Accepted. In his final address to the 6 remaining Senators, on the 9th of 229, Brutus, who had led the NRR from its inception, thanked them for their service, and officially dissolved the government of the New Roman Republic, turning over all National Assets and Debts to the government of the EotLP. Sergio Ren, who was in attendance, officially thanked him and accepted his generous offer. Nova Italia (or Iseli, as it had been known before, and was now known as again) was EotLP Land now. The NRR held significant National Debts, but the EotLP had not inherited the Sanctions & Embargoes that had been placed on the NRR, which made their debts manageable. Lucius Rufus Brutus disappeared with the $3,000,000 given him by the EotLP, and was never heard from again, although it is believed he may have traveled far West, to the Balkavanian Nation of Krajyna. He was remembered as an EotLP Hero (despite his attempts to prevent the EotLP from existing), for providing the EotLP with access to a huge amount of resources & assets in Iseli. Unexpectedly, Michael Osborne emerged from the woodwork, while Ren was still in Iseli, and requested a full pardon. Ren knew of Osborne’s Genius, and his Incredible Business sense, and knew that he could be a significant help in erasing the inherited debts, and granted his “war crime” pardon. He then offered Osborne the position of Finance Minister, which Osborne accepted. Later on, many judged this as one of the best decisions Emperor Ren could have possibly made; within 3 years, Osborne had negated the National Debt, and increased the EotLP’s GDP by 48% in the same timespan. Iseli’s GDP increased by 381% in the same time period.
International Land Lease
GET RID OF THIS PART. THE OS STUFF CAN TAKE PLACE IN NOVA ITALIA
At the end of 231, Emperor Sergio Ren signed a deal with the Wellsiadric Empire, who leased a large portion of land to the EotLP for 2 years. The EotLP was in full control of the Land between the first of 232 and the last day of 233. Osborne moved there, and with the rest of his family, started a Commercial Space Program. His son Leo, who was incredibly intelligent, and an outstanding engineer, designed their First Rocket, the RS1. He launched solo on the first launch of the OsborneSpace company. He died when the rocket exploded. However, a more refined version of the RS rocket went on to become the first Rennian object in space. By the time the lease expired, Osborne had successfully launched 66 space missions, with only 2 other missions failing. When the lease ran out, he returned to the EotLP, and began launching from a new base built in the Campestrem.
Self Determination and Imperial Foundations
Military Expansion & Modernization
Despite the assimilation of much of the NRR Army, the EotLP still didn’t have a very large army of their own. They had a standing force of about 17,500 men, an air force made up of 100 50-year old Jets that they had inherited from the NRR, who had captured them during the NRR War of Independence. Their Cavalry was made up of 128 GIT-1760 “Buffalo” Tanks, which, although being only about 7 years old, were quickly proving to be maintenance nightmares, underpowered, overpriced, slow, and unreliable. Now that they had control over Iseli, they had need for a navy, as well. They had inherited a few old battleships from the NRR, as well as three destroyers, but all of them were nearing the end of their life. Their ground forces weapons & equipment also had not been updated since the NRR introduced the system that was still being used, 40 years ago. Emperor Ren called upon the two smartest Businessmen in his nation, Kai Octan of the Octan Corporation, and Michael Osborne, of the Osborne Group, to source out companies to update their equipment & assets. One of Octan’s biggest discoveries was the small (at that time) start-up, Lancer Technologies. Lancer spent a year developing the R-100 “Dragons”, the EotLP’s first Jet Fighter. They also pioneered much faster methods of production (known as the Lancer External Grapple Over System (LEGOS)), so that by the end of 233, 150 R-100s were in service. Thanks to Lancer’s production methods, another company, Focused Nautical Systems, managed to produce three aircraft carriers, each capable of carrying 20 R-100s, by the end of 234. On a different front, Emperor Ren had mandated that Krennic have a Military Rocket developed for cargo & personnel deployment into space. Krennic’s Engineers returned the Brutus-2-C Rocket. It was relatively advanced, with 3 stages, a total a total of 8 T-5-A engines on the first stage, 1 T-5-A on the second stage, and 4 T-5-A vacuum engines on the third stage. It was also powered by Solid Hydrogen, making it incredibly powerful, capable of putting 5 tonnes into space, at the relatively low cost of 120 million Krens a launch. Ren launched a few satellites, then ordered his designers to create a capsule that could put a man into space on top of the B-2-C. They gave him the 4.5 tonne Ren-5-D Capsule, capable of lifting one LEGO person, who weighed up to 500 lbs into orbit, and safely bringing them back. Ren used Osborne’s private launch vehicles as well as his own new one to assemble a space station – Testudo-1 – into orbit.
Meanwhile, a company Michael Osborne had discovered and purchased, Polar Mechanical Integrations, had finished developing the Rennian Military Personal Attack & Defense Module (MPAD), a whole suite of tools, weapons, gear, equipment, and personal protective gear, together which suddenly made the EotLP Military one of the most advanced in the world. They still had not finished a suitable Replacement to the Buffalo Tanks, but the EotLP’s largest car manufacturer, Silva Sport, had developed a high-capability SUV, of which several variations were pulled specifically for Military Use, known as the Rennia Silva All-Terrain (RSAT). The RSAT entered production in 234. Another Company, Savara Ltd. designed a Battle Cruiser, the design for which was then distributed to 50 different companies across the now-expansive EotLP. By the beginning of 235, they had used LEGOS to produce 150 Battle Cruisers. The Octan Corporation had designed and built 33 Light attack ships in the same time. 45 Reconnaissance ships were designed by members of the Osborne Group, and entered production in 235. Krennic decided not to decommission the only NRR reconnaissance ship, as it was quite new at the time. Osborne also developed two supplements to the R-100 Dragon; the OA1 Pegasus, a versatile attack helicopter, and the O5 Firebird Direct Combat Fighter. Lancer also produced the R-200 Thunderbird, a high capability stealth bomber. Between the years of 232 & the beginning of 235, Ren’s military grew from being a backwater defense force to an offensive-capable, regional power. At the same time, the heavy investment he had pumped into the defense sector had created thousands of new design, manufacturing, and other jobs, which had stepped the Rennian Economy up drastically, and strengthened it greatly. The growth of the military, and its prevalence in many people’s lives also built a sense of National Pride & Identification that had been lacking in the initial years of the Nation carved out of subjugated Nova Terrans, Irinians, Roman Colonists, and Roman Nationals. The new Military-industrial complex had built a Rennian Nationality incredibly effectively. Emperor Ren was doing well. He had prepared his people for, he believed, any situation. But no amount of preparation could have avoided the disaster that was about to hit the EotLP.
A Nation Under Pressure:
Smelly Cabbage Incident
Despite all of Ren’s preparation, and all his strengthening, he couldn’t plan for other’s failures. The neighbouring Regional Superpower (The EotBTH) was the only Nuclear Power in the EotLP’s corner of the world, and they managed to let their entire nuclear stockpile fall into the control of the strange, unusually methodized terror organization Smelly Cabbage. Then they declared their threats. They wanted all the land that belonged to the EotLP, EotBTH, Ottenburg, BBR, Latian, and all the rest of the nations in the area. They assured the leaders of all the nations that they would not undertake any actions against any citizen or military personnel outside of the land they wanted, but would remain willing to nuke their new land if anyone tried to retake it. Emperor Ren & General Krennic decided that there was no way to strike back at this threat, and chose to evacuate. They gave the order for every one of their citizens to load their most valuable possessions up, and get to the coast in Nova Italia. Then they began to load people onto EotLP Freight and Military Ships. The evacuation began on 2nd of 235. By the 27th of 235, almost every EotLP citizen was safely onto their naval ships, with 99% having been loaded on within the first three days of the evacuation. The only who remained behind had been hired by the government to sack their own homeland, and make sure there would be nothing left for Smelly Cabbage. The government had successfully moved their entire population of around 2,000,000 people onto the 150 Battle Cruisers in their Navy in under twenty-five days. They left their homeland, and travelled around the world, surviving mainly on synthesized food produced by Michael Osborne, for many months. Many believed they would all perish. It certainly seemed that they might. They were landless, homeless, economy-less, and likely would run out of fuel eventually. However, General Krennic made the decision that his country could do well if they resettled in the Balkavanian Archipelago.
Invasion of the Balkavanians
General Krennic convinced the Emperor that it was a good idea, and the EotLP Navy set course for the Balkavanians after nearly a year out at sea. With just under a few days of warning, on the 25th of 236, the EotLP Navy came upon the Balkavanians. Their navy entered the archipelago through the Bijelo & Krvavo Strait, surrounding Solemion Otok. They quickly approached Cagne Island, which at the time was an independent nation, who controlled the island and the nearby coast. The Royal Cagne Family, whose navy was entirely overshadowed by the 149 Rennian Battle Cruisers, 33 Light Attack Ships, and 46 Reconnaissance Ships, made the decision to surrender their lands without resistance to the EotLP, in exchange for some continued form of power. Duke Nikolas Mezis Cagne II was granted this deal on the 28th of 236, and became the first Rennian Noble (a position which Ren invented based strongly on Empress Octavia Silenus). He was given the title The Very Honourable Count Sir Nikolas Mezis Di Cagne, and allowed to continue ruling the Island of Cagne in some forms for the years to come. Thanks to Cagne’s Deal, The EotLP gained both its first royally owned ground, as well as their first port o call in over a year
After gaining a small foothold in the Balkavanians with the Cagne Duchy, Emperor Ren & Krennic began looking towards Krjstendodjl, Cklserolva, Kibylj, Mezhdomnoven, and Srebvona. On the 30th of 236, Emperor Ren and General Krennic demanded land that extended in a square area up to the Lonac Bay. The five nations each refused individually, within hours. As a counter, Emperor Ren announced that all military personnel and civilians engaging with Military personnel would be considered hostile to the EotLP, and just under 3 days after their initial demand, His troops began invading. Covered by huge amounts of fire from their coastal ships, the EotLP Army swept through the area ahead of it, focusing first on taking the small amount of land they wanted from Srebvona, then sweeping North to continue their land grab, against which the inferior Kibylj Army stood no chance. The only area of Cklserolva that they had demanded was sparsely inhabited, and due to the lack of decent infrastructure in the south of Cklserolva, the EotLP Army swept through their land as well. Another batch of EotLP Soldiers took the land they wanted from Mezhdomnoven, launching out of the Cagnoy region of Cagne, and then the two massive Armies coalesced towards Krjstendodjl, and took with ease the land they wanted. As the entire world watched, the Rennian Army then stopped. They began digging in on the borders of what they had claimed they wanted, but did not progress an inch further. Ren offered harassment-free passage out of the new EotLP for any citizens of old countries still living there, and offered full citizenship to any who wished to say. To uphold his word, he granted all his military officers the right to detain or dismiss any soldier or officer found to be provably harassing refugees. The Rennian Army began to take control of the few Military outposts that had been in the areas they conquered, and began waiting. Despite what nearly everyone had predicted or expected, General Krennic and Emperor Ren made no efforts to take any more land than he had already, despite clearly demonstrating that he had the capabilities to do so. On the 5th of 237, the EotLP was properly re-founded, with new geography.
The Defense of the Mainland
Astonished at what had transpired in the span of just a few days, with the EotLP Army and Navy capturing a jaw-dropping 56,000 km2 with almost no casualties, several of the defeated countries launched counter-attacks. However, Srebvona's undersized and outdated military could not stand up to the EotLP's, who had spent nearly the entire year since their eviction from the EotBTH training and prepping. Srebvona only launched thee assaults across their new, 80 km border with the EotLP, on the 6th, 7th, and 9th of 237, but all three were decisively defeated, and the Rennian Military demonstrated their civility and sheer superiority by capturing all but 17 of the Srebvonan Soldiers who attacked, and returned them all unharmed back to Srebvona. After such a raw defeat, Srebvona made no attempts to attack further.
Kibylj did not engage on ground level, but began shelling and bombing the EotLP holdings that they had previously owned on the 8th of 237. However, the EotLP responded in kind, bombing 16 air force and infantry bases across Kibylj over the night of the 10th, crippling their Military. Ren offered to completely stop his own bombing if Kibylj would respond in turn, and representatives from the two countries signed an agreement to do so on the 11th, ending the conflict between Kibylj and the EotLP.
Cklserolvan troops only made it to their border with the EotLP on the 13th, and began a slow attack on the EotLP, but this was successfully repulsed by the EotLP Military, with huge help from their aging Buffalo Tanks. Due to the terrain and lack of proper infrastructure between Cklserolva's north and south, none of their tanks could reach their border with the EotLP. On the 20th of 237, they agreed to a ceasefire with the EotLP.
Mezhdomnoven made no attempts to take back the area they had just conquered only a few years before, as it had been a show mostly of dominance over the Cagne Duchy, rather than an actual intentional, useful, invasion.
Krjstendodjl made a few attempts to take back their land, but their flawed military strategy, which mostly consisted of strength in numbers, failed them, and hundreds of their soldiers were killed by Rennian defenders, and thousands more were captured, and returned to Krjstendodjl later. Similar to Srebvona, after receiving their soldiers back, Krjstendodjl made no further efforts to retake their land.
Settlement of the Balkavanian EotLP
The Rennian Military guarded the resettling of the new EotLP, and protected those already living there as well.
Ren's first decisions were on Population locations. Ren ignored the locations where small towns already existed, and instead, by decree, chose several pieces of either poor farmland, or coastal locations, to settle as cities. Rennia, the capital, was placed in the Northwest corner of the Nation. The Northwest was decided to be the more population-heavy region, with three major coastal cities founded - Stravna, Tisery, and Karebyr - and one internal city founded in the same area - Dobskova. At the request of Empress Octavia Silenus, the Sinitolians were permitted to settle in their own region. Ren removed the moniker of Empress from Silenus, though, naming her The Very Honourable Countess Dame Octavia Silenus Di Sinitolia. Ren also refused the areas' request to be called New Sinitolia, and instead assigned them the moniker Qaret. Qaret had significantly less freedoms than Sinitolia had previously, and found themselves removed from the name of the country, which became the EotLP once again.
The Osborne GC and Octan Corporation were both given large swaths of land to exclusively control at a regional level. Both unloaded the equipment, technology, and supplies that had been following the EotLP Convoy around for the previous year on their own private cargo ships, and began to rebuild the country, starting with their regions. Emperor Ren authorized the country to be divided into four sections of Infrastructure; The South Wing, the East Wing, the Centre, and Cagne Island. The south wing was contracted to Osborne to construct Infrastructure and Public Transit systems, the East to Octan, and the Centre was contracted to the Government. Qaret refused Osborne's highway construction efforts, and attempted to take charge of their own infrastructure, but were overruled by the Emperor, who gave them permission to build all lower-level roads entering Qaret, but mandated that they accept the A-level Highways that ran through their Land.
Highway System
Main Article: EotLP Highway System
A Large system of highways was constructed by the different construction groups, including two Main Highways that ran up the length of the land borders of the EotLP, followed by smaller connecting roads, in the B, C, and D tier. Qaret's roads used the designations system Q-, to reflect their unique nature The Highway system was initially built very quickly, but it took over 6 years for a cross-company group of engineers, scientists, and builders to build the 67.4 Km tunnel to connect Cagne Island to the mainland.
National Rail Line
Main Article: EotLP National Rail Line System
The EotLP's next major transport project was their cargo and passenger rail lines, which were constructed in the same area divisions as the highways. Three of the four areas connected up to a major supply depot in Laiiwath, North of Rennia
Osborne created an intricate network of parallel and crossing lines to create a system that transmitted goods across the South Wing easily.
Octan took a different strategy, building two large Main lines, and many small, unconnected, tributary lines that ran onto the lines, to provide the quickest movement into Laiiwath from anywhere in the East Wing.
The National Construction Corps took a much more mediated strategy, running a few tributary lines, but focusing more on larger lines, rather than packing small lines into the area.
The National Rail Line began construction in 239, and was completed in jut under 5 years.
Inter Metro
Main Article: EotLP Inter Metro System
The last Transit project to be started in the reconstruction effort was the Inter Metro System, a series of high-speed rails that ran between the major population hubs in the EotLP
The other nations, due to the relatively low number of casualties (an estimated total of 124 civilian casualties were sustained in the entire ordeal), the clear superiority of the Rennian Forces, and the civilized show of restraint from Ren’s superior military force, decided that they would not press back into their former land. The EotLP existed again. But they were back at square one. Ren began to organize people’s resettling efforts, taking advantage of whatever pre-existing infrastructure there was in the formerly sparsely populated region. Any civilians who had not fled he offered citizenship, and took it upon himself to make sure that the resettlement effort was smooth and clean. Roughly 50,000 Civilians took his citizenship offer. He started resettlement by regulating who could leave the ships, and where they should settle. At the request of Octavia Silenus, the majority of Sinitolians were resettled together, in the 31st Region (which was later named Qaret). A much lower number of resettlers were allowed to live on Cagne Island than other parts of the country, since it was already quite populated; in the parts of the EotLP that had formerly been the Cagne Duchy, 1,500,000 people resided. Thanks to the incredible minds in the EotLP, not least of which were Michael Osborne and Kai Octan, infrastructure began to pop up all over the nation. Road, House, and power grid construction projects replaced the Military-Industrial Complex as the driving forces in keeping unemployment low. And it sort-of managed to work. Although their economy seemed a shadow of its former self, international aid & the focused efforts of Kai Octan & Michael Osborne propped the economy back up to a workable position, with a growth rate that was satisfactory. As soon as possible, Ren had his space agency launch Dirk Ryder back to Testudo-1, which was armed with both Missiles and anti-Missile systems, just in case of an attack by Smelly Cabbage. However, true to their word, Smelly Cabbage did not attack any of the people leaving the area in and around the EotBTH.
Unrest in the Balkavanian EotLP
The Balkavanian EotLP brought prosperity and stability that had never been possible to promise in the old EotLP. But it took a lot of in-fighting to prove so. Ren wanted his nation to be stable, and happy in the new EotLP, but others didn’t see it so; there were many inside the EotLP who would’ve been happier to stay and fight Smelly Cabbage back in the old EotLP. It would end up taking three Coup attempts before people realised what they had was good, before they realised what they had was worth being happy about. After the series of events faded, they would leave a legacy of a strong nation, who could weather internal troubles. But they would cost a lot.
First Attempted Coup
Evanki and Dartmoor escorted Ren to Cagne Island, where they met with General Krennic, who had heard of the altercation, but was unaware of Emperor Ren’s survival. The larger Rebel group pushed the small Military Detachment in Rennia out of their headquarters & surrounded them. General Krennic & Emperor Ren organized a counterstrike to take back their capital city, which they launched three days later, on the 13th of 227. The Rennian Air Force, which had mostly been located at Military Bases where there had been no record of insurgency, began to buzz the new Rebel Headquarters, while three small detachments of soldiers, one led by General Krennic, one led personally by Emperor Ren, and one led by a little-known Roman Turncoat, Sargent Tiberius Rex.
Second Attempted Coup
Mayhem ensued, until a Loyalist realised that the Coup-ing soldiers identified each other by a blue flower painted on their helmet. After that realization, the Rebelling soldiers lost their advantage – camouflage. Three squads of Rennian Commandoes arrived at the scene of the battle within half an hour of the first shot. Although fewer total casualties were recorded in the Second Coup Attempt, both General Krennic & Emperor Ren suffered major wounds, and came a lot closer to death’s door than they had ever before.
The Death of Emperor Ren
Main Article: Etkian Coup
After being released from Medical Care on the 5th of 240, Ren seemed a different man. Although every person who was in regular contact and interaction with him swore that he had made a full physical & mental recovery, but he never acted the same. A much larger security detail was employed to surround him at all times, and his public excursions became more planned, and less natural than they had been before. However, people had little reason to believe he was any less effective at his job after the attempt on his life.
because of Ren's sudden invasion, and conquest of a huge amount of land from five different countries in the Balkavanians (plus the total conquest of the Cagne Duchy), Emperor Ren found diplomatic relations with the rest of the Balkavanians understandably difficult to form in the Balkavanian EotLP's early years. However, Ren made strong efforts to compensate the people and countries affected by his conquest. Once the EotLP began to find its footing economically, Ren began to offer a compensatory package of 3 years of full pay (based on pre-invasion averages) to any displaced Refugee from their Invasion. Many took up his offer. Ren also began to offer the Nations which he had invaded compensation in the form of a portion of revenue from the areas that they had formerly governed, which was never publicly disclosed, but was estimated to be around 15-20% of Revenue. Mezhdomnoven, who had just recently conquered the area that the EotLP had then taken from them, over a border dispute with the Cagne Duchy, refused Ren's payments. Cklserolva, who had only lost a very small amount of relatively sparse and unproductive land, also refused the payment. Kibylj, Srebvona, and Krjstendodjl, accepted Ren's payments.
On the last day of 239,
By the year 241, thanks to countless government investments & subsidies, the immeasurable efforts on the part of the Octan Corporation & the Osborne Group, and a huge boost in population, many of whom were willing to perform menial labour, the economy of the EotLP had roughly hit pre-Smelly Cabbage levels, and thanks to the relatively even distribution of government handouts, the middle class was growing exponentially. Octan had suffered quite a bit in the transition, as there were no large-scale Oil fields in the EotLP's new holdings, and they began to pivot towards other forms of energy, although they still did find areas to drill for oil, but their petroleum production never reached the same scale it had before the SCI
Ren boosted foreign relations, especially with Cklserolva, with whom he began to create close ties with, both economically & culturally. The aging Roman Transport Aircraft (Aquilifirae) that had been the transport backbone of the Rennian Military since its inception were replaced by Cklserolvan Quantos I-87 Hrovytaks, or Verybas, as they were affectionately called. The first Hrovytak entered Rennian service in 243, just a year and a half after they first entered Cklserolvan Military Service. In exchange, Ren sold Cklserolva 75 O5 Firebirds & 35 OA1 Pegasi, and supplemented their considerable navy with 20 Octan Light Attack Cruisers (OLACs) in 245. This decision tightened the bonds between Cklserolva and the EotLP, and the other Balkavanian Nations began to take notice of the EotLP both as a good ally, and a country to avoid making your enemy. The Military Boost given by the EotLP to Cklserolva also proved influential very quickly. The aspiring Regional power to the east, Nakorenta, had adopted a strategy of assimilating nations into their “Nakorentan Union” in the later 230s, which had proved successful. In the 10 years that they had been utilising the “Smash & Grab” Tactic, they had assimilated the Eastern Balkavanian Nations of Zmadovevi, Mimodera, Vasdutevi, and Krajbretura. All of them had the same tactic deployed against them: first, an elite Unit of around 200 Nakorentan “Death Troopers” would infiltrate the capital, wearing no identification. If captured, a exorbitantly large bounty would be offered for their return, and if they succeeded at their objective (the death of at least half of the country’s rulers or legislators), then Nakorentan-backed Rebels, coup-ing Military & Nakorentan special forces would storm the capital during the ensuing mayhem, placing a Nakorenta – Favouring Leader & Legislators in place, under the guise of maintaining stability after terrorist attacks. Inevitably, the new Nakorentan – backed leader would suggest incorporation into the Nakorentan Union (which claimed to be an international cooperative union. However, it was really just the Nakorentan Government being given control over a formerly sovereign nation). Through this method, 4 countries had fallen in 8 years. In 246, a Death Corp attacked the Cklserolvan capital of Fortrionale. Despite their ruthlessness & expert training, the superior Pegasi & Firebirds proved too much for them, and 500 Death Troopers surrendered to the Cklserolvan Military just three hours into the confrontation. Nakorenta’s plans in the Western Balkavians had been thwarted; Annexed Cklserolva was planned to be a base of operations for further Smash & Grab excursions into nearby Kibylj, Hoketleri, Krjstendodjl, and even the EotLP. The Nakorentan ruling Table saw this as a direct affront to them by the EotLP (which was incredibly hypocritical, as they also claimed to have no affiliation with the Death Squads). Cklserolva agreed to release the Death Troopers for a massive ransom, who promptly retreated to their headquarters – a “captured” Nakorentan Navy Vessel, the Allkiterrayid. The Leader of the Nakorentan Ruling Table, Asil Kranost, sent an official message to Emperor Ren through international telegraph lines. The message was simple: “Don’t mess with us.” Ren responded within five minutes, making the biggest mistake of his life. He only sent two words back. He queried of the Nakorentans, “Or what?” Kranost immediately declared the EotLP the primary target for their next Smash & Grab maneuver. He reached out to a dissatisfied Rennian Major General named Ak Etkia, who was known for being bloodthirsty, cutthroat, and violent in nature. He had lusted after more power & battles for a long time, ambitions which were well known throughout the EotLP. The Nakorentan Ruling Table (colloquially called the Vladeza) used this to their advantage. They began a secret correspondence with him, providing him details of how they intended to overthrow Ren, and punish him for his “insolence.” They decided that Etkia would be the Nakorentan replacement for Ren. At his own suggestion, they also decided to try and capture the Emperor’s Sceptre during the commotion, to legally make Etkia Emperor, rather than relying on the commotion that would arise around Ren’s heir-less-ness.

The Third Balkavanian War
Main Article: Third Balkavanian War
Krennic was crowned Emperor of the Empire of the Lego Plains on the 23rd of 247, at the age of 80, to mixed opinions from the public. Many saw him as Ren’s natural successor, but others remembered how he had fought against the EotLP’s independence, and nearly won. He was also considered too old to rule effectively, or intelligently. Many Rennians felt as though Tiberius Rex, who had single-handedly practically ended the Etkian Coup, and had rightfully been Emperor for a short while, was a better leader for the EotLP than Krennic. Rex was appointed as General of the Rennian Armed forces by Krennic, the most powerful position in the country. Very quickly after his coronation, Krennic's health began to decline. Publicly, he named General Krennic as his First Vizier, and Privately, he named Rex as his successor. As his health further deteriorated, Rex began taking actions on behalf of the Emperor. This was immensely popular among the Rennian Population but was significantly less popular among the bureaucracy. However, Rex began a systematic re-population of the imperial bureaucracy, under the guise of streamlining the process for Emperor Krennic's orders to be implemented, but truthfully it cemented his position as the real authority across the EotLP. Among his first actions was to release much of the Government’s control over the private sector, which had forced the economy into focusing strongly on military products. This unusual economic focus didn't change instantly, though. Now more worried than ever of a Nakorentan attack, Military investment in the private sector actually skyrocketed, even as the Economy diversified, and people were given control of their assets & earned rewards. The economy began to balloon during this time, and plunged the nation into a sort-of Golden age that had just began as Ren’s reign came to an untimely end.
Nakorentan Stand Off
General Tiberius Rex, sure that the Nakorentan Union had been behind the Etkian Coup, began to invest heavily into a network of informants across the entire Balkavanians, but focused in Nakorenta. He expected that the Nakorentan Leader, Asil Kranost, and his Vladeza would not be satisfied to simply sit back and accept their defeat in the EotLP. In 249, he finalized a mutual defense treaty between the EotLP & Cklserolva, a major mark in the stand against the Nakorentan Union. In 250, Srebvona joined the alliance in response to Zempodlon’s annexation into the Nakorentan Union, and the EotLP began sending military aid & training to Verskaell, to help modernize their military, which was at that point an estimated 50 years behind its contemporaries. Buklirasakzi joined the alliance in 252. Representatives of the four nations began to meet on a monthly basis to discuss potential additions to the alliance and other cooperation between the member nations. In 254, Soramti tendered an offer to join as well, but before the request could be discussed by the member nations, they too fell to Nakorentan aggression. Reportedly, General Rex predicted at the next alliance meeting that war would break out within 5 years. Another straw snapped in 255, when Krjstendodi forces assisted Nakorentan forces in “stabilising” Hoketleri during an election, which became part of the Nakorentan Union later that year. The EotLP, Cklserolva, Srebvona, and Buklirasakzi all cut diplomatic ties with the EotLP’s northern Neighbour, Krjstendodjl, after the incident. In 256, Nakorenta’s neighbour, Kurazistan, joined the growing alliance, which had come to known as the “Balkavanian Sovereignty Legion”, or the BSL, or just the Legion. 257 saw Krjstendodjl join the Nakorentan Union, which had been a long time coming; they had never been a target of Nakorentan Death Corps because they had always been so cooperative with the Vladeza. By now war was on the brink. But the EotLP and the rest of the Legion was determined to do what they could to avoid a war. But that wouldn’t do anything to avoid the inevitability of war.
Invasion of Rennia
On the 28th of 258, Air Raid Sirens in Rennia went off. But there was no threat in the skies. There was a Nakorentan Death Corps moving in from Gatograd. The Death Corps’ ship, the Allkiterrayid had spent the last few years patrolling the dispute waters between Krjstendodjl and Cklserolva, and had been using Gatograd as a port & base. Although the Rennian Military were on high alert, because the Death Corps had been in Gatograd for so long, no-one actually expected them to attack. The Rennian military began to scramble to assemble a defense, and the Death Corps began ravaging the countryside between the border and Rennia. Although the majority of the population in the invaded region sought shelter, the Death Corps lived up to their names; in the hour it took them to reach the capital, roughly 700 civilians were brutally murdered by the Death Corps. They reached Rennia, where the streets had been deserted, and began moving towards the center of the city, where Krennic’s Palace was. However, the Rennian military wasn’t about to let them get away with another round of Impericide. Pegasi were immediately dispatched from the Rennian Military Forces Base, who began to engage the Death Corps from above. Meanwhile, a division of R-100 Dragons were dispatched to engage the air support that came with the Death Corps. Ground Troops rushed to the center of Rennia, where their forces were supplemented by the Local Militia as well as Armed Police Forces. The Death Corps significantly slowed as they approached the centre of Rennia, but their 750 strong force continued to push forwards. However, as more Troops, helicopters, and large-scale weaponry began to arrive in Rennia, they were overwhelmed. Reportedly, their leader surrendered, expecting to be ransomed back to Nakorenta immediately, as they had been many times before. But their 1,000+ strong wake of dead civilians convinced the Rennian Command to ignore the surrender pleas. As they tried to surrender, the Death Corps were mowed down. Not one survived the Rennia encounter.
Declarations of War
The next day, on the 29th of 258, Asil Kranost had his intelligence services send an anonymous text message directly to General Rex (who was the de facto leader of the EotLP in Krennic’s aged state) simply asking “How much for my prisoners.” Rex refused to be intimidated, though, and at 10:48 AM, responded to Kranost’s personal phone with two words, which would change the Balkavanians forever. “What Prisoners?” as soon as he sent the text, he gave the green light to the SRS Agaré Meleny, who fired three rounds of missile salvos, sinking the Allkiterrayid, and all 500 Death Corps members aboard. Invoking the mutual defense treaty, Cklserolva declared war on the Nakorentan Union on the 30th of 258 at 06:48, followed a few hours later by Srebvona, Buklirasakzi, and Kurazistan, at 10:00, 11:00, and 11:31, respectively. The EotLP didn’t officially declare war until the 31st, when all nine of Nakorenta’s vassal states made official declarations of war on every member of the Legion. Rennian, Cklserolvan, Srebvonan, Kurazi, and Buklirasak soldiers were mobilised, and their navies began moving into position for war. The mountains surrounding Kurazistan mostly neutralized the threat of an attack from Nakorenta proper, however, the annexed Mimodera shared a long, desert border with Kurazistan, and was expected to be where Nakorenta attacked from. Meanwhile, the EotLP and Cklserolva both bordered Krjstendodjl, where large Nakorentan Forces had been deployed, and the EotLP and Srebvona both bordered Hoketleri, where there were also large Nakorentan Reserves.
First Battles
The first battles broke out on the 31st. On the Lonac Zaljev, naval forces of the Legion and the Union clashed. The Legion forces were made up of a Flotilla of 5 Rennian Ships & 7 Cklserolvan Ships, led by the SRS Agaré Meleny, and her captain, Rear Admiral Mía Di Knasto. They faced off against 8 Nakorenta-annexed Krjstendodi Vessels. The Rennian Northern Fleet and the Cklserolvan Southeastern Navy came into contact with the Union's forces around 07:00. Missile Salvos were exchanged from a distance, before the ships came into closer range. The SRS Legoia launched the majority of her aircraft, who began to strike the Krjstendodi ships from above. Under heavy barrage from the superior numbers of newer, superior ships, the Union flotilla quickly began to crumble. By 10:30, 6 Union ships had been sunk, one decisively captured, and one abandoned with heavy damage, which was dragged back to Rennia, to be salvaged by Legion forces. Mia Di Knasto had decisively won the first official engagement of the war.
On another front, Cklserolvan Forces from the 208th Royal Battalion stormed into Gatograd, taking the city with relative ease, losing only 31 men. After being surrounded, the majority of the Union forces in the city surrendered. Only 158 deaths on all sides were recorded in Gatograd on the 31st.
Union forces made significant headway into Srebvona on the 31st, despite the high mountains in the way, advancing almost 6 kilometers into the west of Srebvona before finally slowing down.
Cklserolvan Naval Forces met & clashed with Hoketlerian naval vessels around 16:10 on the 31st. Ten Hoketlerian vessels were sunk in the altercation, and only one Cklserolvan ship was sunk during the battle.
Kurazi and Union forces clashed all up their extensive border, but very little land changed hands, except in the very south, where the Union made significant headway into Kurazi land.
Dolzlatna declared war on the Legion on the 1st of 259, and announced that Côte Blanche would also be joining the war on their side. The Côte Blanche Government clarified that they had no intentions of joining the war on either side a few hours later, however that desire was soon quashed, as Dolzlatnan forces flooded into the city-state. The government accepted the occupation as legal, and was given back a limited form of control over their nation.
Nakorenta's Northern Neighbour, Norasul, joined the war on the 1st as well, tendering an offer to join the Legion, which was accepted quickly. Norasi and Union forces clashed later that day at many points along their border on both the mainland, as well as on a few other islands. A small Nakorentan Enclave was assimilated into Norasul, but Norasul's significant portion of the Ochak Baleka was taken on the 2nd by Nakorentan Troops before Norasul could muster an effective defense, which solidified the Union's control of all naval access points to Zronägrad, the Capital of the Union.
Invasion of the EotLP
At the break of dawn, on the 2nd of 259, 4,000 Krjstendodi and Nakorentan Forces crossed the frontier into Eastern EotLP. The EotLP's border defenses, while quite extensive, were selectively targeted by Union Artillery and Air strikes in the early hours of the morning, before the land troops crossed the frontier, at three access points that had been cleared in the early morning. The Union Forces advanced nearly 37 Kilometers into Rennian Territory before grinding to a full halt, as they came up against the first line of Rennian Villages, and their associated Anti-tank Weaponry & Artillery Cover. Legion troops disembarked their vehicles and began to pitch in for the first set of battles. Rennian Artillery Fire kept them from advancing further everywhere except the far East of the EotLP, where Union forces swept in off the coast, and took significant gains. General Tiberius ordered the immediate deployment of L-325 Mastiff Tanks to the front lines. Despite the theoretical prowess that the Mastiff should have shown, their crew's inexperience and the Tank's low amount of pre-testing led to hard issues having to be learned in the first few days of the Invasion. 8 Mastiffs were destroyed upon first deployment, when they attempted to further stall the Enemy's advance by charging their lines. Unexpectedly, the Union's I-7 Quplon proved a formidable enemy. The Union's Mobile anti-tank weapons added to the mayhem. Very quickly, it became clear that neither side was going to break the land grid-lock easily.

Death of Idkah Bintad & Ascension of Idkah Iasmyna
On the 2nd of 259, Asil Kranost ordered every one of the Union's bombers to bomb Tavergrad. It was a quickly and poorly planned operation, which resulted in 45 of the 50 bombers dispatched from Zronägrad being shot down within 15 kilometers of the frontier lines, by robust Kurazi Anti-Aircraft Defenses. However, the last 5 Bombers continued on their way, and successfully completed their bombing runs on Tavergrad. Casualties were low from the first run, but the Bombers clearly marked that they were aiming for the Royal Palace.
As the Kurazi Air Force scrambled to react to the Bombing Run, more and more bombs fell on the Tavergrad Palace, where security personnel were desperately trying to move Shaykh Idkah Bintad and his heir - Emira Idkah Iasmyna - to the safety Bunkers, which had not been properly prepped for invasion. The two were separated from each other to prevent them both being killed by a single bomb. Despite the best efforts of the Security personnel, the entrance to the bomb shelter was blocked by Debris, and the Sheikh was moved to the exterior of the palace, to try and get him away from the epicentre of the attack.
Unfortunately, a stray bomb struck the palace over were the Shaykh was taking cover, and the explosion and resulting collapse killed the Shaykh and his entire entourage.
By the time the Kurazi Air Force was mobilized and took down the bombers, they had already destroyed almost all of the palace, save a small exterior tower, and a block of rooms in the northwest corner of the palace. Idkah Iasmyna had sustained some injuries from falling debris, most notably a broken arm. She made the announcement of the Shaykh's death that evening, and was coronated the following day as the Shaykhah of Kurazistan & her Territories, Commander of the Kurazi Military, and protector of Tavergrad. By all accounts, Iasmyna was a most well qualified leader, who cared deeply for her people, and was well versed in terms of military strategy and movement. She would be a very large asset to the Legion throughout the war, and helped make several of the most influential decisions in the war, including NAME THING HERE, NAME THING HERE, and NAME THING HERE.

Emperor Krennic’s Death
James Krennic made an incredible leader, and led his nation incredibly, but it couldn’t last forever. As he aged, the weathered and respected Emperor began to become more erratic. Once, he declared war on the neighbouring Cklserolva. However, his generals, and bodyguard Tiberius Rex (the Emperor Emeritus) managed to talk him down before the declaration became public. As he grew older, and older, and more and more erratic, those closest to him became increasingly worried about the trajectory of their nation. Eventually, The Emperor began to clearly lose his mind (although this was kept hidden from the public), and became quite violent. His main generals as well as Imperial Guard Captain Rex began to formulate a plan if he continued to live on, but in a deranged mental state. It didn’t take long for their plan to become necessary. On the 8th of 263, when the Emperor was a few days short of being 96, he was walking around his palace, when he grabbed a gun from a guard standing at duty, and shot the guard and one of his body guards before running off. The rest of the bodyguards stopped to help their fallen comrade, and contacted Rex, who was not on duty at the time. He contacted Marshall Kaspier Lehreit (the country’s top general), as well as the Air Force and Space Force Marshalls Dirk Ryder and Victor Wilson (the other generals, Zin Evanki and Poe Dartmoor, were both in space at the time). The four of them sounded the Rennia Alarm, which told all citizens to find shelter inside. The deranged Emperor made his way into the street, firing his weapon uncontrollably. One soldier was killed who tried to stop the emperor. However, eventually, Lehreit managed to subdue him, and the four of them sedated the Emperor and moved him to the Military Hospital. There they had a psychologist evaluate his mental state. The anonymous specialist deemed him mentally unstable, and diagnosed him with several seriously debilitating disorders associated with aging. The Emperor was left in the care of the hospital, under strict guard. Then, the four who had captured him reviewed the constitution once again, to make sure their case had rock solid support. Once they were sure, the Rennia Alarm was lifted, and a national proclamation was announced. During that event, Generals Ryder, Wilson, and Lehreit, representing three different branches of the military, professed a statement of non-confidence, citing their belief that the Emperor was not of sound mind. The official diagnosis from the psychologist provided the professional support, and Rex provided confirmation from a member of Krennic’s daily close associates. Once the proclamation was made, they sat back, and waited for the civil and military leaders of the nation to vote on the matter. In an overwhelming majority, the government structure decided that Krennic was no longer mentally fit enough to run the country. So, on the 10th of 263, James Krennic was officially removed from office, with full honours, respect, and thankfulness for his guidance for the past 16 years. His will was read among the government branch heads, including his named heir. Many expected him to return the mantle of Emperor to Tiberius Rex, but his will-written about a year after Emperor Ren’s death-named his heir as Kai Octan.
