Mikael Cagne
Emperor-Duke Nikolas Mikael Dryz Di Cagne (Born: Mikael Dryz-Cagne IV) was the final Duke of the Cagne Duchy, as well as the 4th and final Emperor of the Empire of the Lego Plains.
He was a former Octan Driver, and the Season 3 Driver's Champion. From Seasons 10 to 12, he acted as Octan's Technical Officer.
He raced with Octan under the number 22-2.
Early Life
Mikael Dryz-Cagne IV was born on the 20th of Aran, 204, to the Cagne Family, led by Mikael's father, Duke Nikolas Mezis Cagne II, who ruled over Cagne Island, as well as part of the nearby coast. Mikael grew up fabulously wealthly, and was exposed to racing expensive cars from a very young age. He picked up Racing as a hobby from a young age. He quickly grew in both interest and talent.
He graduated from Cagne University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 228.

Rennian Overthrow
When the EotLP launched their naval attack of the Balkavanian Coast, the Duke Nikolas offered a deal to Emperor Sergio Ren, offering all Cagne lands without resistance in exchange for continued power. The Emperor agreed, giving Duke Nikolas slightly more limited powers over Cagne Island, but not the mainland. Duke Nikolas became known as the first Rennian Noble, as Ren invented Nobility Roles in order to give Nikolas one. The Very Honourable Count Sir Nikolas Mezis Di Cagne died in 247, upon which Mikael Dryz Cagne IV became the Count Sir Nikolas Mikael Dryz Di Cagne.
Formula Lego Career
In 243, as Michael Osborne and Kai Octan began looking for a location to begin their new Formula Lego League, the Cagne Family generously donated a huge swath of their island to be repurposed as a race track. As a token of appreciation, Kai Octan signed the Count Di Cagne's adult son (aged 40) onto his team, without even putting him through Driver Test Races. However, Mikael proved to be quite worth signing, despite his high-born heritage, and advanced age (for a Formula Lego Driver). He was given special permission to drive under the name "Mikael Cagne" rather than his full name "Mikael Dryz-Cagne IV."
Early Octan Leader (Seasons 1-3)
Cagne finished P3 overall in Season 1, behind Salem Hoods and Vance Lewison. He was not close enough to challenge for the title, although he did score two victories, at Race 3 and Race 6.
Season 2 saw Cagne do worse than his debut year, finishing P6 overall, behind two Osborne Drivers, as well as two National drivers. However, the setbacks were momentary, and he returned for Season 3 more prepared than ever.
Cagne took home 5 podiums in Season 3, and a victory at Race 3. Coupled with a major crash at the same race that effectively removed much of his competition from title contention, he was more than 75 points ahead of the field by Race 5, and became the first driver to win the Driver's Title at a race other than the finale. Sira Bowler managed 3 victories across the season, but it didn't help her. One crash, and Cagne was the victor. Mikeal's legitimacy as a title champion was challenged, as many claimed that he would not have won, had he been involved in the Race 3 crash. However, the EotLP GP Commission's official response reminded fans that "The Driver's Title Champion is the driver who scores the most points across a season. This title does not just fall into the laps of the undeserving. There may be more than one deserving driver, however, avoiding accidents is a skill. The EotLP GP Commission believes that Driver #22-2 is a legitimate title holder."
Later Years at Octan (Seasons 4-8)
Season 4
In Season 4, Cagne found it impossible to repeat his success of the previous season thanks to two starter failures that ruled him out of 1/3 of the season. he still finished with 2 podiums, and came P5 overall. His father (The Very Honourable Count Sir Nikolas Mezis Di Cagne) died only a few hours before Race 4, where he performed his worst of the season. Many linked the two events together. Although Mikael's legal name was changed to Count Nikolas Mikael Dryz Di Cagne after his father's death, for a second time, he requested special permission from the EotLP GP Commission to continue racing under the name "Mikael Cagne," which was granted.
Season 5
Cagne fell backwards into the midfield in Season 5, having a season high of P5 at Race 5. He Finished P8 overall, and P3 on Octan.
Season 6
Cagne seemed to find some pace back in Season 6, finishing P3 overall, P1 within the team, with 3 podiums. However, he was still 30 points from 2nd Place. At this point, He reportedly began to have thoughts of retirement, as he had led a very successful career, and since his father's death in 247, he had also taken on the responsibilities of Count of Cagne Island. However, he decided to stay around for a while longer, and signed on at Octan for two more years.
Season 7
Season 7 saw Mikael's age catch up with him. He finished the season with a podium, but only finished in P8 overall, which he felt very disappointed with.
Season 8
Mikael repeated his P8 overall in Season 8. Now 48 years old, he felt that a much younger, more talented driver should fill his aging shoes. He scored one podium in Season 8. In contrast, Kai Octan still believed him to be a very capable driver, and offered him a seat for Season 9, despite the shrinking Team Size that would take effect that year. However, Cagne chose not to show up to the contract-renewal meeting. Kai Octan instead chose to keep Salem Hoods on for another Season.
Octan Technical Officer
Kai Octan offered Duke Cagne the role of Technical Officer at Octan, starting in Season 10, which he took on, since he felt that despite his Dukely roles, he didn't have a lot to do, and had technical expertise enough to manage that side of the team.
Season 10 saw a slight technical slump in Octan, as they finished P3 overall on the Team's side, even though Octan Driver Julia Young won the Driver's Title.
Season 11 saw Octan take several impressive steps forward towards the reigning Constructor's Champions, National, as they finished 19 points behind National in P1, but 23 points ahead of P3 Fire, and Rookie Octan driver Adrienne De Leon very nearly won the championship, losing out to Aleks Rosya in the last race.
Season 12 ended up being Mikael's last, as he began to struggle with some health concerns that he denied to reveal to the public, but on the team side, they took the biggest step yet towards National, ending up still finishing P2, but this time by just 1 point. Alongside Octan Team Manager Hadley Benett, he chose his successor from his best Engineers, and Mikael announced Alberto Binleska to be taking on the role of Technical Director for S13 and beyond at his retirement party.
Duke of Cagne
Death of Duke Nikolas
On the 8th of Mara, 247, just a few hours before Race 4 of Season 4 of Formula Lego, word reached Mikael that his father had finally succumbed to his illness, and passed away, making him the Duke of Cagne. Emperor Ren contacted him, offering to perform the official ceremony to make him duke of Cagne the following week to allow time to grieve his father's death. However, he would not get the chance to accept the Emperor's ceremony, as just 4 days later, Emperor Ren was murdered by a group of conspirators led by Ak Etkia, plunging the EotLP into what would later come to be known as the Etkian Coup.

As the CIRAF forces itself west towards Rebel base, their eastern flank loses strength, so to protect Cagne they transport him towards the centre of their control, however in the process they are ambushed, and Cagne is taken captive by an Extremist group of Etkian Rebels, who beat him, however he's traded the same day to a more moderate faction in exchange for General Theodore Berge of the CIRAF and an agreement on a turf boundary. Mikael is treated well by his new captors, and is freed by the CIRAF as they (IAF aided) rout the rebels across the island after Etkia's death.
Inter-FL Years
Cagne left the Formula Lego world for a year after S8, travelling the Balkavanians, and spending time in his Family's Palace on the East Coast of Cagne Island. Before being re-hired by Kai Octan, he felt somewhat aimless and without anything to do, as many of the responsibilities of the role "Duke" had been absorbed by the Office of the Regional Imperial Governor when Ren and Duke Nikolas Mezis Cagne had signed their agreement in 236, and further responsibilities had been stripped away by the Imperial Governor after Cagne Sr's death, which had come just a week before Emperor Sergio Ren's death, which had thrown the nation into turmoil for several weeks. When Emperor James Krennic restored stability several weeks later, he took nearly a month before getting around to appointing Mikael as the new count, and without official comment, the responsibilities and benefits of the Count shortened during that interval. Cagne took on the role offered to him by Octan, however as he was not the best engineer or technician on the team, he turned the role into a mainly administrative one, and surrounded himself with extremely talented engineers. Octan was successful under his watch.
